The good news is that YES!!!!!!! They came and took away the tree lodged in my nieghbors house yesterday. There is still a ton of damage left to look at outside my windows and a bunch of tree-debris all over his yard, but at least they got that enormous tree branch out of there, finally.
However, the workmen were working late into the evening — they didn’t leave until almost 10PM last night (I can’t believe how light it still was outside by 10PM). But it also meant that while I was in my bed, trying to go to sleep, the workmen were on my neighbor’s roof, which is basically saying that they were right inside my bedroom….
So it took me a while to fall asleep.
Also!!!! I have that TeraHertz Healing Wand right now, and wow, is it cool, gang. I don’t suffer from any pain issues, but I am trying to clear up my vision issues. I have already noticed a little progress there — things in the distance are noticeably clearer when I don’t have my glasses on. So cool!
Meanwhile, that Wand gives you a truckload of incredibly upbeat energy & joy. It is, honestly, incredible. (If you treat filtered water with the wand for about 3 minutes, and then drink the water throughout the day, it is an amazing mood booster.) So that also had me awake later than usual.
But I slept great. I didn’t even care that when I opened my eyes, it was almost 5AM.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been doing extra meditation sessions around here. I can feel a noticeable amount of tension, anxiety, foreboding in the air. It isn’t helping that Phil keeps going silent and has not done the livestream. Nothing from Simon Parkes corner of the world, either.
So on we go. Trying to somehow return to our regular lives in some way, while also staying as alert as possible.
Peitor, my long-time friend and co-producer in Abstract Absudity Productions, texted yesterday. He is ready to move forward in some way with our screenplay, Lita måste gå! (Lita’s Got To Go!). (Absurd, very, very dry humor — micro-short video.)
I’ve been waiting for him to get back to this project for a few months already — he’s been busy producing music in the South of France — so I was really happy to hear from him about this yesterday.
I began re-reading the script, which I hadn’t read in 2 years. Wow. Insane, people. We were very close to getting funding for our production company right before the fake pandemic got underway. The feedback we got on this little 20-page script, from producers in several different countries, was really fantastic. But now we are back to square one, post-pandemic.
Anyway. I’m excited. The “Lita” script and the play, Tell My Bones, both back on my plate this summer.

Nick Cave sent out a Red Hand File yesterday that really astounded me. In a good way. While he has that sort of “non-American” stance on Freedom of Speech not necessarily being a God-given right (when you don’t grow up under the US Constitution, that kind of idea is more prevalent), he does an incredible job of explaining why he believes what he believes. In part:
“I support free speech, not so much because I think it is a right, but rather because it goes some way to validate our specialness. I am genuinely concerned by its alternative, the fearful flattening of ideas through the suppression of our individual natures, something that has become all too evident in almost every institution I can think of.”
He also said some powerful things about Jesus, the man. Again, only in part:
“…Christ was cancelled upon the Cross. These impossible, dangerous ideas – to love your enemy, to love the poor, to forgive others – were terrifying and unconscionable and forbidden in His day, but became, in time, the better ideas that underpin the society in which many of us are lucky enough to live today.”

I’m guessing you already heard about Dr. Simone Gold’s sentencing for having given a peaceful speech under the rotunda of the US Capitol, after having been invited inside, like everyone else, on Jan. 6th. Her sentence was so unbelievably unjust and repugnant that it is hard for me to even imagine it will happen. (Her sentence includes but is in no way limited to ” 60 days in Federal Prison.”)
She is a believer in the rights of Physicians to Free Speech and she was one of the first doctors in this country to speak out against the lies about COVID and the dangerous vaccines. (For that, her home was raided and she was arrested – 2 years ago.) In her statement last week, she said:
“I am a victim of selective prosecution. I am being legally attacked for speaking the truth about COVID-19 and vaccines.
I remain committed to activism for physicians’ free speech. As George Washington said, ‘If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.'”
Her legal fees are coming out of her own pocket, but she is asking everyone to keep supporting America’s Frontline Doctors while she is in prison.

And the rest are some things I want to post for Father’s Day, because my computer is making me COMPLETELY insane right now and not wanting to access videos (!!). AAAAaaarrgggh…..
I posted a bunch of photos on Instagram this morning, of my various fathers, grandfathers, and father figures — going back to the mid-1800s.
But I wanted to post these photos I have of Gus Van Sant Sr — who was definitely like a father to me, gang. He was such a kind man. I worked for him when I was in my 50s, helping him out in his home office. He was not only his son’s business manager (GVS the movie director), but he also managed the career of the painter, Helen LaFrance. Without Gus, my screenplay and my play would not exist. He arranged for me to meet Helen in Kentucky (she was in a nursing home by then.)
One day, in the office, Gus was showing me some old photos. I have a copy of this great photo of Gus as a little boy:
And when Gus was 15, he worked as a page for the US Senate. Here he is, at age 15 (in 1943 or 1944), standing right next to Eleanore Roosevelt!! I just love this photo. And Gus was so proud of it I’ve cropped it way down, though, because it’s hard to see him, otherwise. The red line is pointing to Gus.
And while I was searching for these photos, I discovered a letter Gus wrote to me. it was after his wife, Betty, died and he was preparing to move to Seattle, to live closer to his daughter. I was so touched when I got this letter and I had forgotten all about it until this morning. The letter was written in maybe 2016?
He died this past January, in Seattle, and I was truly heartbroken when I found out. Anyway, here is his letter to me before he moved. (BTW, he signed his name with a little “g”. I don’t know why.)
“Marilyn – I’m sorry I didn’t take the time to say goodbye to you today. Too many things going on, and I didn’t think about this being the last time we will see each other. I just read your lovely card, cat’s and all. I’m very touched by your comments. I do hope you will find peace and happiness in the coming years, in either NYC or here. And of course, I am very much hoping that your play will get produced and you’ll be a famous playwright. At least a highly respected one. Thank you for your help with Betty’s obituary. She’s in a far better place, that’s why I don’t have difficulty letting her go. Dementia was beginning to consume her, and the future would have been very difficult for both us. We were married for 65 years, and had been together for several years before marriage. We were lucky to have found each other. We dated in high school, and even before. She had a saved pressed corsage that I had given her when we were 12. Customary for a fellow to give his girl a corsage for Easter in the 30’s and 40’s in Mayfield. I also wanted to say a little bit about the man in this photo below. He was the father of my bestfriend when I was 11-12 years old. The photo is from 1963, but when I met him in the summer of 1972, when he was in his 30s, he had long hair and full facial hair — a beard and mustache, as was customary back then! He was a high school teacher, but he was also a devout Christian. And he was the one who truly introduced me to the healing powers of Jesus Christ. This man below, changed my life in so many ways. He was an amazing father and a really caring individual.
My adoptive family were conservative Jews so, of course, I was not allowed to so much as mention Jesus’s name in our home, so theJesus thing was a big secret. But this man meant so much to me. He died about 10 years ago. (He had 3 daughters and a son, who are cropped out of the photo for privacy’s sake.)
And that has to be it for now, gang, because I have to re-boot this laptop!!!!!

Okay, so I am now traumatized by the sound of wind.
After what happened to my tree on Monday night (and, yes — a huge part of my tree is STILL lying there in all its enormous splendor, smashed against my neighbor’s house. It is all I can see when I look out one of my bedroom windows. Well, I mean, I can also see my nieghbor’s smashed-in roof, his broken windows, his gutters ripped away from the house and just dangling there. It took him forever to deal with his insurance company. I do not know why. He was texting me, in high-anxiety mode for about 24 hours, basically ruining my whole day off on Thursday. Whereas, by then, my own insurance company had been in touch with me no less than 8 times, and twice with my neighbor and once with his insurance company… Meanwhile, his insurance company did not come out to view the damage until last evening, 4 days later, and so the poor tree is still there.)
Anyway. Winds came through around 3AM this morning — about 17 miles an hour. nothing at all like what happened on Monday night, which was a type of mini-tornado — and yet it woke me from a sound sleep and filled me with extreme anxiety that would not quit. All I could do was relive seeing that huge portion of my tree breaking away, over and over, and landing on my neighbor’s house.
My girlfriend in L.A. remarked the other day — “what are the odds that you’d be standing by the window when that wind came through and so you saw it all?” Indeed, what are the odds? Everything about what happened on Monday night is beyond belief and so much like my whole entire life…
And I was informed yesterday — no surprise– that the remainder of my beloved silver maple tree has to come down. It is heartbreaking to me but I knew it was coming. The good news is that since the tree is between the sidewalk and the street, it is actually owned by the village and they will be the ones to remove it. Saving me a ton of money that I do not have.
Miracles everywhere. I truly have no shortage of miracles, gang, but I also have no shortage of traumatizing experiences, either.

In other news that is beyond belief — to me, anyway:
Wow, gang. For whatever reason, Johnny Depp & Jeff Beck recorded a version of the Velvet Underground’s classic song, “Venus In Furs” — an ode to sado-masochism — on their upcoming album, titled 18. And wow, is it good! I honestly could not believe it. I couldn’t believe they recorded it, nor could I believe how good it was. Which says a lot because Lou Reed was one of my all-time favorites, gang.
I think that I might even like this new version better. If only because audio quality back in 1967, when the original came out, was nothing like what it is today. Plus, Jeff Beck’s guitar on this really just blew me away. And I like Johnny’s monotone — not as sneering as Lou Reed’s was, which kind of makes it more effective for me. Or at least, effective in a different way.
And this also amazed me! In a good way.
A Nick Cave fan managed to run into Nick Cave in two different cities and got two different photos with him!! In the first photo (in Barcelona last Sunday), Nick looked like he hadn’t slept in about 2 days. In this newer one (in Athens? I’m not sure where, really), he looks so relaxed and happy:

As you may or may not know, we’re now having an intense heat wave. I am grateful that I have electricity because many parts of Ohio are still without power because of Monday night’s storm, and so they can’t even turn on a fan, let alone air conditioning.
However, I have no air conditioning in the house and I prefer it that way, but the intense heat and humidity and BRIGHT SHINY SUNSHINE!! make it a little hard to think.
Plus, last evening, my neighbr began freaking out a little because no insurance adjusters have been out to his house yet to look at all the damage done by a huge section of my tree crashing into it.
I am of course sensitive to how he is feeling about this but not only is there nothing I can do to speed up the insurance guys (I’m guessing they got a ton of calls about damage done by the storm), but it is also really hard for me to have to see my poor tree still smashed into his house whenever I look out my window. So I’d like things to happen, too.
Still, all his texting put a bit of a damper on my peacefull evening last night, on top of all that heat & humidity.
So it is stressful here but I am trying to be supportive of his intensity while just moving forward the best way I can.
Anyway, the one good thing I can say is that Phil’s livestream last night was great. In a nutshell:

Some passerby had taken a photo of it and it was going viral on a local FB group. It made me feel so sad to see that. Just heartbreaking.

And in a round about way, that reminds me of the current Mick Jagger situation. I have no clue what’s really going on there, except that, right before the Amsterdam concert. he “tested postive for COVID” — which, as we know doesn’t really exist. It’s a coronavirus. A cold or flu. And if it goes beyond a cold or flu, you were likely vaccinated against “COVID” and are going to get really sick. And probably die, or spend the rest of your life wishing you were dead.
Usually, though, “testing positive” for public personalities means they’ve been arrested. But I can’t really figure out what’s going on with Mick Jagger. That’s someone they would have arrested a long time ago, if they were going to arrest him — his connections to royal families, his well known fondness for very young women (including MacKenzie Phillips, who included it in her memoir and Mick Jagger approved it being published — that they had sex upstairs in her bedroom, with her dad’s blessings, when she was underage. However, it was almost 7000% overshadowed by the fact that she had tons of sex with her dad….)
Anyway. It doesn’t make sense that he would suddenly be arrested. However, he could have been vaxxed and is now actually sick and that would really, really suck, gang.
Oh, and yesterday, June 14th, marked the 47th anniversary of when I saw the Rolling Stones in concert for the very first time!! Here they are in Cleveland, Ohio, 1975, and I was in, like, the 14th row, dead center, way down there on the field !! (I was 14 years old, almost 15.)
