I’m actually happy that it’s Monday. (And it’s a gorgeous Monday, to boot.)
The train station was insane the whole weekend. The weather was incredible. The local college is getting ready to be back in session and so the town is swarming again. It’s not like Hell on Earth, or anything, because in the town where the train station is, the people are really nice. But physically, at my current lofty age of 63, it gets exhausting. By the time I got home last evening, I could barely walk.
But since I was in town, and already exhausted, I decided to get all the groceries before coming home yesterday, that way I don’t have to go back into town again until Thursday.
Yay.
I’m supposed to get the newest version of the play sometime today, but until then, I can just focus on my own writing, do the laundry, take it easy, enjoy my day, etc.

Here’s some things that are of interest:
Another one of my favorite New Testament scholars — Bart Erhman — is holding a virtual conference on “New Insights Into the New Testament.”
The early bird fee to attend (online), is $59.95. (You have to register before August 26th to get that price.)
Here’s the link to see the list of Speakers and also to sign up.
Since it’s taking place the weekend of September 23rd-24th, and since that is when I am going to Cleveland to see Nick Cave, I’ve decided not to sign up for the conference, even though James Tabor is one of the Speakers. And even though you can access the video of the conference eternally so you don’t have to attend while it’s going live, I am so backed up with webinar videos and research and academic papers on the New Testament and all things “Jesus Movement,” I think I’ll just rely on Nick Cave that weekend to get my dose of New Testament insights….
For instance —
“O no don’t go O no
O slow down Joe
The righteous part
Is straight as an arrow
Take a walk
And you‘ll find it too narrow
Too narrow for the likes of me
Who’s that hanging from the gallow tree
His eyes are hollow but he looks like me
Who’s that swinging from the gallow tree
Up jumped the Devil and took my soul from me”

Anyway, in other Biblical items of interest!!
Jeff Benner is preparing to launch a new podcast:
I am in the process of creating a new podcast where I will answer your questions about the Bible, the language of the Bible and the culture and philosophy of the people of the Bible.
If you have a question for me, you can email me at podcast@excavatingthebible.com. I cannot guarantee that I will get to your question, but I will get to as many as I possibly can and thank you. […]”
I’ve taken a few of Jeff’s courses over the years, primarily on Biblical Hebrew and Ancient Hebrew, and I have really liked them a lot. I’m looking forward to this new podcast. [All details here]

Not Biblical, but still of interest!!
The latest online webinar I took from Dr. Morse’s Herbal Health Club —
“Nestled within our bodies is an intricate network of glands that house our hormones and play a crucial role in maintaining harmony and balance. This network of hormone secreting glands is known as the Endocrine, or hormone system, and its influence on our overall wellbeing is held in a delicate balance of feedback loops, cascades and body system inputs. “

And yet another webinar I’m taking!!
This one is from Stage 32:
“Create Your Own IP: How to Adapt Your Existing Script into a Podcast as Proof of Concept” (taking an intellectual property, like a script or story, and turning it into a podcast.)
I think it sounds really fun.
If you’re interested in that, or interested in any of the really great educational courses offered by Stage 32, visit here. (I’ve taken more online courses from them than I can even remember and they are always really, really good & also affordable.) (Stage 32 is for film and TV writing and production.)

Enjoy your Monday, wherever you are in the world. Tomorrow could be a HUGE day. We shall see what BRICS brings…
Meanwhile.
Thanks for visiting. I love you guys. See ya!

Morning-listening music!!
From Tom Petty’s solo album, Highway Companion: “Jack,” 2006. I love the guitar on this!! And I love the groove. Okay. Enjoy!!
“Jack”
You say what you want to Jack, I’m gonna get my baby back
Trouble came right away, now you say she’s gone to stay
Cough it up, hit the street, left without a word to me
Oh-oh, you don’t know, how that girl could touch my soul
You say what you want to Jack, I’m gonna get my baby back
Suddenly you know my name, say there’s only me to blame
It’s gonna rain, it’s gonna shine, gotta stay between the lines
Rolling down a lonely road, you say I should let it go
Wish you would come on down, if you need I’ll come around
You say what you want to Jack, I’m gonna get my baby back
Used to have a son named Joe, where he gone to I don’t know
Maybe down in Mexico, living off of daddy’s dough.
If you give me half a chance, I will make her sing and dance
I’m gonna give her all my soul, I’m gonna play her rock’n’roll
You say what you want to Jack, I’m gonna get my baby back
You say what you want to Jack, I’m gonna get my baby back
