Everything Is Moving Right Along!

Yesterday was great, gang.

Sandra emailed me my tickets to Toronto so now I know when I am actually going to be there. (October 26th through October 31st. Opening night is October 28th.) (I’ll be there for 2 preview performances, then opening night, and then the first Sunday matinee.)

And I will be staying in some sort of Airbnb, where she will be staying, too, but I have a separate accommodation or something like that. Because she doesn’t want anyone at all, ever, to be speaking to her when she’s not at the theater because she will need to be extremely focused and will likely also be extremely stressed out…. We’ll see.

But anyway, it’s actually starting to happen. So I updated all my info on the Uber app, and on the Expedia app, and I dusted off my passport and my TSA pre-check, and all that stuff that I haven’t used since 2019 (!!!!). (Pre-scamdemic, pre-mask/vax mandates, etc.)

So it’s really happening. I even have a ride to and from the airport here (which is an hour away from me).

And all that new luggage I bought in 2019 and have never used — remember when I was supposed to teach that writer’s workshop at that villa in Italy (Villa Monte Malbe in Perugia, with Peitor Angell)??

In case you’ve forgotten, it was going to be here:

It slept 30 (!!), and most rooms had a private bathroom. I loved this one — the view out the window:

Remember how I was studying Italian for about one year, in order to be able to speak with the full-time staff at the villa?

And remember how my good friend, Kara, had gotten a new passport in order to attend my writer’s workshop?

Well, I never used that brand new luggage. It’s been in my storage closet since before the scamdemic.

However, it will soon be coming out of storage… So, it’s official. Yay.

And speaking of Kara… I hadn’t seen her since she was here for dinner on New Year’s Eve (!!!!). Both of our lives have been very intense this year. But she popped into the train station Friday night, a few minutes after we closed, and stayed to chat for about 20 minutes. It was so great to see her! It made my whole night. Here is a lovely photo of Kara but it, too, is from before the scamdemic:

So I made a big decision. (Well, in the whole scheme of things — a tiny decision, but it feels exciting to me.) I bought a new writing desk. Just a basic, very inexpensive ($40!!), small writing desk that I will put down in my dining room. It will have nothing on it. No stacks of scribbled notes or endless piles of papers, no laptop.

I just wanted a place to write in my journal again; a space that was uncluttered, that wasn’t surrounded by all the psychic energy of everything I’ve ever written here at this writing desk where I am typing right now on my laptop. The writing desk where I have written everything that I have ever written over the past 42 years….

So I’m excited. I love my dining room and I love the energy in it and I am almost never, ever in it.

So, I just feel like some sanity is coming back into my life now. I actually feel it taking shape.

That’s really kind of it for now, gang. I’m working with Sandra for one more quick session today, and I want to get a little bit of housecleaning done before that.

Oh, here’s this:
