The aim of the clashes that occurred 2 days ago was to “overthrow a democratically elected government”, said the Sierra Leonean Minister of Information.

Here is what happened:

🔺 The violence took place early in the morning on November 26. Attackers attempted to break into the military armory of a barracks near Freetown. The attacks were repelled.

🔺 On the same day, the central prison, another penitentiary establishment and two police stations were stormed, around 2,000 prisoners escaped.

🔺 Following this, the curfew was declared. Currently, it is in effect from 9 pm to 6 am nationwide.

🔺 More than 20 people lost their lives, according to the authorities. The attackers are currently being sought.”
