That’s right — no ice, no snow, no rain, no high winds, no freezing temperatures!

And, best yet, no FOG!!

I drove home from the train station last night in the worst fog I’d ever seen, and so I missed my freeway exit. Never did that before.

Luckily, one of my current houseguests was with me because he works at the train station, too. He turned on the GPS on his phone and even though it was pitch dark, and raining, with all that heavy fog, he was able to direct me to a road I actually recognized.

But it was like being in a dream sequence inside a movie. I kept saying, “Where are we?!” And he kept saying, “Just go straight. 3rd Street is right up there.”

“How can it be right up there?! I’ve never seen this road before! I’ve never seen these houses!” And then suddenly a bunch of deer appeared, strolling through the fog just up in front of me…like they had all the time in the world…

But my passenger was absolutely right. Suddenly, from out of the fog, appears the bright shining sign of my bank. It was too weird. Everything instantly became absolutely familiar, even in the fog! (We’d come up from behind my bank— a direction I’d never come from before.)

It was really too funny. And then, when I pulled up to the curb in front of my kitchen porch, KonTiki and Blackie-the-stray and one of the raccoons who lives in my barn were hanging out together on my porch, waiting to greet us — in the fog and the rain and the dark of night.

Yes, you’d think hillbillies live here!!!

Anyway. An enchanting evening was had by all.

And I am in good spirits despite the stress! Sandra’s initial response to the first draft of the first 5 pages of the screen adaptation of “The Guide to Being Fabulous” — “This is delightful!”

On Sunday, we will begin fleshing it out.
