And we are still texting nonstop, but our official weekly conference call won’t happen until tomorrow. Meanwhile, he was kind enough to send me 35 new pages of notes that he made while flying to Paris last night, so I won’t be lacking anything to do today…

I have decided to re-boot the old MarilynsRoomVideo channel on YouTube, but now it will have a collection of all my old music demos, from 1981-1994. (The channel used to have various readings from my novels and short stories, and also videos of my cats!!! Naturally. But for many years, it has been just sitting there, alone and empty.)

I will keep you posted when I have everything uploaded. I will also be including old publicity photos.

So this gives me something to do during those 5 seconds when I’m just sitting and breathing…

But, in all sincerity, a couple of younger guys who did not know me in my “music days” in Greenwich Village, but who heard a couple of my demos recently, have asked me to upload all my demos so that they can listen to them. I finally decided that it would be all right to do this, even though the quality of the demos is often just really really rough. The songs themselves are basically the focus now.

In other good news — when I spoke briefly to my dad yesterday, he sounded better than he’s sounded in weeks. It really just made me feel so great to hear him sounding so alert and awake.

Wow, what a gorgeous morning here today! That alone has made me get out of bed, smiling. (Well, I was out of bed before the sun was up, then I went back to bed with my coffee for a couple of hours, and THEN I got out of bed, smiling…)

And the rest, here, is just some St. Paddy’s Day stuff I wanted to share!

I was in my mid-twenties before I found my birth family and found out that my biological roots were mostly Irish and German (on both sides of my birth family). And by then. my best friend Valerie in Brooklyn, was already my most favorite person on planet Earth. And she was more Irish than anyone else I ever knew. (This was the mid-1980s, in NYC.)

Even though I had already gone to St. Paddy’s Day parades with her, and I listened to a ton of Irish folk music by then (and she and I both loved The Pogues), suddenly finding out that I had Irish roots was a big thrill for both of us.

I remember standing in my bedroom in the hellhole tenement apartment on E.12th Street, push-button phone in hand, calling Valerie and telling her, “Val! I’m Irish!!”

She said, “Oh, Emmy!! Of course you are!!”

I don’t know how many St. Paddy’s Days we spent together in Manhattan, going to the old Irish Pub on the corner of 6th Avenue and W. 53rd Street (it’s long gone now) and drinking Guinness on tap and singing that crazy song about the unicorn —

— but those are some of my favorite memories, and my first thoughts on St. Paddy’s Day are always of Valerie and how much fucking FUN we always had. Drinking, smoking, cussing, laughing, and other stuff.

(And, I don’t know, gang, there are pernicious rumors that she and I were illicit lovers for about 20 years, but I can’t attest to that one way or the other!!!! ) (If it were true, though, I’d be willing to bet that it would have inspired some of my most popular short stories, novellas, and memoirs…..)

Anyway!!

I won’t even attempt to update you on the constant, constant, CONSTANT developments for our TV dramedy series for Abstract Absurdity Productions.

And constant work will only ratchet up immediately because the Festival Series Mania, in Lilles, France, began yesterday and Peitor will be there soft-pitching, starting Monday.

However, he found time to see the movie “Call Me Dancer” last night, and he said it was incredible! It has been making its rounds at festivals, worldwide. And getting accolades everywhere (including 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, if you can imagine that). Here is the trailer:

I will actually begin drafting the Pilot episode today. And, naturally, I heard from Sandra this morning that we are basically back on track regarding adapting the screenplay of “The Guide to Being Fabulous”. (She took a week off to try to decide if she wanted to take a part in another play. Then decided against it. So, onward.)

Anyway.

I know I keep telling you that I’m really busy. And yet I just keep getting busier and busier…

And I’m hoping that tomorrow, I will take that drive to the County Seat and drop off my updated paperwork regarding getting my new roof!!!!!

It should be a lovely drive.
