Wow, gang, is it beautiful here again today.
I actually remained, for several hours, snuggled in bed because it was quite chilly this morning! And all the many cats around here said: “Do you think you could close these fucking windows??!! We’re freezing!!!”
But the answer was no, because I just felt that having all these cool breezes filling the house could help get rid of the spectre of all those recent FLEAS.

Okay, there is not much news today.
From Charlie Ward’s newsletter yesterday:
“Massive increases in coral across the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) have been reported for 2023-24, marking the third consecutive year of record growth. Nearly all parts of the 1,500-mile-long reef have reached their highest coral levels since detailed observations began. Despite this significant recovery, mainstream media has largely ignored the news, instead focusing on a recent Nature article claiming climate change poses an “existential threat” to the GBR. Professor Helen McGregor from the University of Wollongong and the Guardian echoed these sentiments, despite the clear evidence of coral resurgence.”

I loved this post on Instagram. Not only the great photo of Keith Richards from yesteryear, but also the quote, because it is so true and it underscores my entire life!

Happy Sunday!

Granted… nature is highly resilient and sometimes surprises us on the positive side. What you’re reporting may or may not represent a net gain in coral worldwide, nor a sustained trend against increased ACIDIFICATION as well as higher water temperatures broadly killing coral, along with numerous other troublesome effects.
Good science… the best set of tools we have… involves analyzing the “big data” as well as the small. One needs an unusual, strong sub-set within big data, plus a solid, verifiable counter theory than the prevailing one(s) to let any sub-set override the concerns and tentative conclusions of the broader set!
I realize you may not have interest in thinking like a scientist… if true, all the more reason to seek out reliable “explainers”, not just contrary theories alone.
BTW, pertinent to my just-sent remarks, I have long been aware, vis “msm”, of the kind of coral regeneration reported on.
I wish you could know how often I hear the accusation that the MSM isn’t reporting x, y, or z, when I have, in fact, already heard it there, sometimes multiple times. Bias goes both ways!
