Yes, that’s right.
After the Sheriff (!!) paid me a very friendly visit yesterday morning, saying that the City Council is “requesting” that I trim back my ENORMOUS hydrangea bush because it’s blocking the sidewalk….
To be fair — my hydrangea bush was off the charts this year. It truly was/is enormous.
Luckily, the weather is lovely here today and I don’t have any patients to visit today. Plus, it’s basically fall now and the hydrangea blooms are turning brown anyway.
So that’s what I’m doing this morning. Cutting it back for the winter.
In case you missed it on Instagram — here’s my hydrangea bush from back in July.

In still more news from yesterday!!
Our tickets arrived!!! And — yes! — now I have to make sure I don’t lose track of them for EIGHT months… (they are currently under a magnet on the front of the refrigerator).

I want to just make a quick comment about my new part-time job, caring for the house-bound elderly.
The patients that they assign me are truly incredible, gang. Just beautiful people, with a lot of grace, faith, dignity, and courage. I am generally moved beyond words by theses people’s lives. Their memories, their personal and family histories, their homes. Not to mention the physical things they are struggling with now.
When I am leaving a patient’s house and heading home for the evening, I am always in this very fragile sort of emotional place. It takes me a while to come fully out of it.
I have done this type of work before, a long time ago, but I never had patients like all these people are turning out to be. One after another, after another. (I’m wondering if my file at the Agency says; If they are devout Christians, with staggering homes and amazing lives, give them to Marilyn.)
BTW, tomorrow morning, early, I have another new patient — well, a husband and wife. So I likely will not be posting to the blog tomorrow morning.

Okay.
Once again, Code Monkey Z had a lot of interesting news items on his substack, so I’m posting a link to the whole list.

Driving-home listening music from yesterday evening!
(And FYI, back when Sony Walkmans were popular, I would walk around the East Village at night, wearing those little walkman headphones, and listening to Mink DeVille on a cassette tape, and just taking it all in — the music, the bombed-out East Village at night — and dreaming. I have always especially loved this song.)
The late, great, Mink DeVille’s “Just To Walk that Little Girl Home,” from his chart-topping, iconic album, Le Chat Bleu, 1980. Enjoy.
