My trip to see my dad yesterday was heartbreaking. But, as always, he was in good spirits. That’s all I can really say about it for right now: It was heartbreaking.

Today, I am going to do a lot of soul-searching regarding my writing to try to assess what I really, really want to do regarding all these many projects that are on my desk.

I’m starting it with a conference call with my long-time accountant (when I’m actually earning enough money to need an accountant) in NYC because he is the most sober, level-headed person I know in the entertainment industry.

And from there, I will look at my life and what I want to do with it, at age 63 and a 1/2.

From yesterday’s 3-hour playlist!! I’ve posted it here before, but I love it. This song was a massive hit when I was 15 and still committed to the mental hospital. Even though it’s still going to be cold, I’m looking forward to the sun. I always love driving to town on those beautiful backroads when the sun is shining — even if I’m only going to the train station.

Plus, the sun affects the music I choose to play on that 25 mile drive…

For instance, in all the gloomy, freezing, snowy weather, this has been my starter song lately (followed by the Hollywood Vampires version of “People Who Died” played really LOUD):

Which reminds me, on the drive home last night, when the song below came on the playlist, I said to my driving companion: “I could listen to this song all day. Just real, live guys in a recording studio in L.A. What a fucking groove they had going. I wish I could have been there. What sort of drugs do you think they were on? Man. The groove is so intense.”

My driving companion, who is 36 years younger than me and can’t even fathom “1962”, replied: “This song makes me feel like I’m on some tropical beach.”

I did get my consultation notes on Wednesday from Ken Wolf over at Manhattan Repertory Theater, regarding my play, “Tell My Bones”. He had many really good things to say about it, gang. But he also included nearly 20 pages of notes regarding re-structuring and re-writing and re-thinking…

So that will take me a while to digest, since I am right smack in the middle of re-structuring and re-writing and re-thinking “The Guide to Being Fabulous” as we adapt the play for film.

But anyway. I’ve got plenty to keep my brain busy for the next few years…

This was really cool for me, gang. Now that I joined Ross K. Nichols’ Patreon group to study Biblical Hebrew, I was also able to be at the latest deep dive into the Shapira controversy while it was happening live. Ross was in Louisiana, Jono was in Australia, I was already lying in bed in the Hinterlands and listening by candlelight, and there were about a dozen other people listening from all over. For the last couple of months, I’ve been sort of experimenting with various mediations and frequencies to fix my eyesight, just here at home.

I take the regular daily eyesight supplements (lutein and zeaxanthin, etc.), which sort of help make my eyes feel more comfortable, but don’t seem to do anything at all about fixing my vision.

I really like Binaural Beats healing frequencies and have had success with them for other things in the past, so for the last week, I’ve been doing one specifically for fixing eyesight and, this morning (after one week of listening for 30 minutes a day), I noticed an actual difference. For instance, I can clearly read street signs outside my window without my glasses on. So I am going to stick with it.

Things are going great over here. Waiting on some stuff from Sandra before I can continue the screenplay adaption for “The Guide to Being Fabulous,” so I am back to work on “Novitiate,” for now.

And also — yes! I’ve decided to begin studying Ancient Hebrew. I bought that course over a year ago, looked it over, and then immediately thought: No way do I have time to do this…

But since I am re-studying Biblical Hebrew now, I thought : Why not do it side by side?

By the way — I joined Ross K. Nichols’ Patreon group, in order to learn Biblical Hebrew by reading the Book of Genesis in Hebrew in a group-study setting. (I gave up on the YouTube course, which was all spoken Hebrew, and I went back to focusing on reading and writing it.)

So, anyway, now I’ve just added a column to write down the Ancient Hebrew letter along with the Biblical Aleph-Bet. (Ancient Hebrew is a paleo alphabet, sort of like hieroglyphics.) (And, interestingly enough, some of the letters remind me a lot of the Chinese characters, which I learned when I was studying Mandarin.)

Anyway! I’m doing all this because I have so much free time!!

And, yes, I’m still studying French!! Loyal readers of this lofty blog know by now that this is something I do eternally. Study French. I have literally been “studying French” since I was a wee bonny lass in Cleveland, in 1969.

Yesterday, a sentence came up that really amused me. The French lesson dealt with going to the zoo, and the sentence was (in French): “The zebras and gorillas are here.”

What a great sentence to know in French, right? Especially if you aren’t anywhere near a zoo… For instance, if the doorbell rings and when you answer the door…

That’s right — no ice, no snow, no rain, no high winds, no freezing temperatures!

And, best yet, no FOG!!

I drove home from the train station last night in the worst fog I’d ever seen, and so I missed my freeway exit. Never did that before.

Luckily, one of my current houseguests was with me because he works at the train station, too. He turned on the GPS on his phone and even though it was pitch dark, and raining, with all that heavy fog, he was able to direct me to a road I actually recognized.

But it was like being in a dream sequence inside a movie. I kept saying, “Where are we?!” And he kept saying, “Just go straight. 3rd Street is right up there.”

“How can it be right up there?! I’ve never seen this road before! I’ve never seen these houses!” And then suddenly a bunch of deer appeared, strolling through the fog just up in front of me…like they had all the time in the world…

But my passenger was absolutely right. Suddenly, from out of the fog, appears the bright shining sign of my bank. It was too weird. Everything instantly became absolutely familiar, even in the fog! (We’d come up from behind my bank— a direction I’d never come from before.)

It was really too funny. And then, when I pulled up to the curb in front of my kitchen porch, KonTiki and Blackie-the-stray and one of the raccoons who lives in my barn were hanging out together on my porch, waiting to greet us — in the fog and the rain and the dark of night.

Yes, you’d think hillbillies live here!!!

Anyway. An enchanting evening was had by all.

And I am in good spirits despite the stress! Sandra’s initial response to the first draft of the first 5 pages of the screen adaptation of “The Guide to Being Fabulous” — “This is delightful!”

On Sunday, we will begin fleshing it out.
