A Happy Birthday, Indeed!

Today, I am 64, gang!

I’m really looking forward to my picnic in the park with Kara this afternoon.

I am so very glad we are doing that because I won’t lie, gang; I am really fighting depression today. Tomorrow would have been my dad’s 94th birthday — when I was growing up, he and I always shared a birthday cake. Usually one baked and decorated by my mom.

Then, as I got older, my dad and I almost always were together on those 2 days that were our birthdays, even when he and I weren’t getting along so great.

Well. I miss him so much today. But from 5AM onwards this morning, people have been texting & emailing me with various “happy birthday” greetings, so it is hard to be sad!!

In fact, Wayne, my ex-husband who is usually in NYC, texted me from Tokyo, where he is on vacation, to wish me a happy birthday. That really brought a smile to my face.

Next in line was my other ex-husband, in Seattle, wishing me a very happy year ahead and crowning that happy greeting with a “Cash App” gift!!

Ditto my beloved cash-app-using friend, Valerie!

Anyway. I have heard from quite a few people, so that has made me feel very happy. And on Saturday evening, at the train station, they had flowers and a card for me. So, I am going to make it. I realize that life has to go on.

Of course the news is all about the fake Biden no longer running for the actual Presidency, and he has selected the fake Kamala to be in his place. However, even the REAL Kamala would not be eligible because she was not born in the USA and neither were either of her parents… hmmmm.

Phil is supposed to be live tonight but we’ll see, gang. He was supposed to do his live on Thursday, then Friday, then last night….. you know how it goes. He must be very busy helping to bring down banking institutions the world over! Or something like that…. Check here later to confirm.

James Tabor arrived safely in Jerusalem over the weekend, even though he was traveling on the day that all the airports had to shut down. He just squeaked through in time!

I can’t discuss, yet, the details of the photo below but it makes me so happy, gang! James Tabor sent it out to his private Patreon members yesterday. It’s from his meeting with Simcha Jacobovici and Oded Golan, the owner of the James Ossuary!!! Big things are underway there, archeologically speaking. I can’t wait!

And in other news!!!

Nick Cave sent out a really wonderful Red Hand File today, about writing his song, Brompton Oratory, which is one of my favorite songs of his, ever. Honestly, it is in my Top 5 of a songwriting career that spans over 40 years. (However, he mentions that the 4th verse is “controversial” but it’s always been my favorite verse in the song… I always seem to be on some other planet from the rest of the world.) Anyway. He says, in part:

It was my circumstances at that time that changed everything. I was going through a break-up, things were very fraught and the events started forcing themselves onto the page. I wrote Brompton Oratory the morning after I had been unceremoniously defenestrated from what I thought was a rather special and groovy relationship, and in the high tragedy of the moment, I found myself seeking consolation in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as Brompton Oratory….

You can read it in full here.

And I think that is it for now, gang.

Enjoy my birthday today, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

How about I leave you with this today? “Brompton Oratory,” Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, from their exquisite album, “Boatman’s Call”, 1997. Enjoy!

  1. Happy birthday, Marilyn!

I didn’t realize you shared a birthday with Bobby Sherman (81 today)! He was one of my greatest crushes of all time, and I’m so happy he went on to live such a good and useful life.

Congratulations and hope it’s a wonderful day. Birthdays are fun; they give other people the chance to let you know how much you mean to them, something all of us need, at least once a year!
