The training for the new job yesterday was really long and there was a ton of information. I was a little wiped out by the end of the day, but wow, gang.

I worked for this same company several years ago, and it was a good company to work for, but they have since been taken over by a different franchise and these new people are incredible. Such joyful, happy, helpful, kind people. (This is a non-medical in-home senior caregiver job.)

And God is all over that place. For instance, when you don’t hear the staff talk about “being lucky,” but instead they talk about being blessed, you know you’re in the right place.

Today I have a ton of training videos to watch here at home, and then some quizzes. That will likely take all day. Then tomorrow, half a day of training. And then I officially start.

I am so glad I chose to get back into this work part-time. What an incredible company to be connected to right now.

Nick Cave sent out an unusual Red Hand File this morning. It has not been uploaded to the website yet. However, in today’s letter, a reader wrote in asking Nick to ask his readers a question and have them answer him, for a change.

So here is the question Nick asked his readers to answer:

“I have a full life. A privileged life. An unendangered life. But sometimes the simple joys escape me. Joy is not always a feeling that is freely bestowed upon us, often it is something we must actively seek. In a way, joy is a decision, an action, even a practised method of being. It is an earned thing brought into focus by what we have lost – at least, it can seem that way. My question is, where or how do you find your joy?“

He also added that rehearsals for the upcoming Bad Seeds tour are getting underway, so he won’t be back with the readers’ replies for a few weeks.
