Another gorgeous day. and today is the day I get to have lunch with 2 of my girlfriends, before heading to my evening shift (where I absolutely adore the husband & wife that I spend 4 hours with.) So this is a great day underway here.

Otherwise, I can sum it up by saying you should buy gold & silver if you can afford it. Only keep enough cash in your bank account to cover your bills and keep the rest at home. Keep plenty of gas in the car. Keep plenty of food on hand for you and your pets. And VOTE! Either on Election Day or earlier. But VOTE.
And that is actually it. Everything else is either optics or chaos, or both.

It was actually taken the winter before I moved to NYC, but Times Square looked exactly like this back when I was living on W.45th Street — from 1981-1983 — with my first husband, Chong. We only lived 2 blocks from Times Square. From the billboards, to the stores, to the cars — it all looked exactly like this (with or without the snow).

In my own life — some super exciting news! I am actually meeting 2 of my girlfriends (former co-workers from the train station) for lunch tomorrow!! We’re meeting at a Mexican restaurant that is literally 5 minutes from where I have my afternoon/evening shift tomorrow, so I can actually take my time and enjoy myself.
We have not seen each other in almost 3 months. Time flies so fucking fast, gang. And one of the women spent a month in Australia during that time, so I want to hear all about her trip.
We’re all excited about getting together again, but I was the one who arranged it all because I need to make every effort to ground myself in my own life, around people my own age. It gets so fucking weird, when you’re always with people who are not only strangers to you, but also looking at the final paragraphs, basically, of their lives.
This is where we’re dining. I know it looks sort of like a warehouse from this angle. But oddly enough, even though it’s about 25 miles from where I live, I have been to this restaurant many times over the last 6 years, with various friends (mostly Kara), and I always have a great time there.

He sings alone and plays guitar or piano, but he did not write all of the songs included on the album. (The song below is an Everly Brothers tune). There are a bunch of cool photos that accompany the song. Enjoy!!!
Luckily, I was actually able to get home in time last night to hear Phil do his live.
Wow. That was really great, wasn’t it??? Something is really UP out there. But what??? (And if you don’t know the famous Hollywood movie from 1944, Gaslight, you should watch it!!! It’s great.)
Whatever is going on, it sure sounds like all of this is going to be over soon, thank God. (19 days?)
Now that I am sort of forced to watch TV, because almost all of my patients have the TV on constantly, I see the appalling local political commercials that people are subjected to, night & day, and it makes me want to scream. The colossal TON of lies. But I start to find myself sometimes doubting myself, which is what Phil’s live was all about.
For instance, here in Ohio, we have this thing on the ballot, Issue 1. And as far as I knew, I was voting NO on Issue 1, but the unreal, barbaric onslaught of commercials that stress voting YES on Issue 1, were beginning to plague me. Why was I voting NO? I could no longer remember.
Luckily, this came in my inbox last evening, from Convention of States, and I suddenly remembered.
It explained, in part, that if adopted, Issue 1 would:
Promote gerrymandering and unfair district formation.
Lead to erratic drawing of legislative districts resulting in disjointed districts that divide communities.
Result in poor representation of Ohioans in Columbus.
Give power to special interest groups from outside the state of Ohio.
Remove accountability to the voters of Ohio by vesting authority in unelected commission members influenced by radical progressives.
Allow virtually unlimited power to spend Ohio tax dollars with no control by Ohio voters.
Eliminate voter approved safeguards overwhelmingly passed in 2015 and 2018.
Anyway.

There is not really a lot to post today. Everyone is hunkering down, getting ready for something HUGE — panic out there, anxiety; frustration, exhaustion.
Although, it sounds like Trump was having a great time at the Al Smith Dinner last night. Everyone was posting videos from it.

The new, remastered, deluxe edition of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ Long After Dark is officially out today! (It was originally released in November of 1982, when I was living in my wildly popular but notorious hellhole apartment on E. 12th Street in NYC’s East Village, and back then I bought it in vinyl.)
The 3-CD collection arrived in my mail yesterday so I was able to play disc 2 during breakfast, dark & early this morning. Here is Tom’s version of a song he wrote that Maria McKee had a big hit with back then, “Ways to Be Wicked”. Enjoy.
I’m guessing that by now you heard about (or saw) the fake Kamala meltdown on Fox last evening. I feel that’s a very positive step toward ending this whole endless charade.
While that meltdown was underway, Phil was late for his livestream… and then very late.
And then he eventually posted a creepy video from his very dark car (creepy because it was so dark, he himself wasn’t creepy — 10 days of darkness coming? I don’t know). And he said he will do the live tonight at 7PM Eastern time, and then another live on Saturday night.
I can’t watch either of these. because I will be with patients, so I will have to watch the replays the following mornings.

Nick Cave sent out a greatRed Hand File yesterday!! Just confirming what we already know– the Wild God tour is incredible!
However, mostly he was talking about how he and the band are feeling about this incredible tour. He says, in part:

Those couple of hours on stage are intense and concentrated and there is a feeling of supreme metaphysical possibility where anything can happen, and frequently does. Remember how it used to be popular to ask, “What would Jesus do?” when you were faced with some sort of moral or ethical question or dilemma?
in 2009, a really great book came out, called: What Would Keith Richards Do? Filled with actual quotes of things Keith Richards had said in random interviews over the span of about 4 decades, and presented as affirmative wise advice or affirmations to help guide you in your very complicated life. It is mostly incredibly funny.
For years, I kept this book in the guest room, but yesterday, I moved it into my room — on my night table, to be exact. I decided to randomly choose a topic each morning and share the result with you here!
This morning’s entry [drum roll]: From Chapter 5, “Daily Affirmations on Society”. Keith’s response on being a bad example for society:
“If they [the police] hadn’t come smashing through my front door, no one would’ve known what example I was setting.”
So now, I guess, just sort of meditate on that and enjoy your day!!

Yes, I’m currently in a Goat’s Head Soup phase, after my friend sent me that video the other day of the backing tracks to “Angie”. And I am finding the album to be an uncanny inspiration for both the memoir I am working on (covering 1971-1980), as well as a screenplay I’m developing that is a subsection of the memoir!

Breakfast-listening music. This was a huge radio hit when I was living in NYC and working at the Museum of Modern Art. (Yes, I keep praying that this guy is okay. Time will tell.)
I have no clue where the weekend went. It seems like I worked through the whole thing.
But I have to say, gang — based strictly on the elderly people that I visit here in the Hinterlands– every last one of them is Christian, they believe in God, they’re Conservative, they’re pro-Trump. And they watch the TV news and they are ALL suspicious about what is going on.
A case in point–
Last evening, a new patient that I’ve been assigned — her world now is essentially just her recliner chair. She’s immobile and mostly deaf but incredibly smart and sweet and funny. She took one look at the latest polls last night on Fox News, regarding Kamala and Trump being in a “dead heat”… and she said, “There is no way that’s true. The polls are lying.”
My point is that, older Americans, who are part of that “old school” where they were actually taught critical thinking– they are not easy to fool. Even without a smart phone, without a laptop, without spending time out in the world among other people. They know how to THINK.
Anyway. So I have a new patient (plus her husband) and wow, are they amazing! All these incredibly wonderful people out there. It makes it a little easier to have to say to goodbye to the other ones that are moving on.

A friend in France sent me this incredible video this morning. I just loved it. I share it here, even though you aren’t likely to love it for the same reasons that I do — it viscerally brought back so many wonderful memories of my private world in the early 1970s.
It is the backing track only, from the Stones iconic hit song, “Angie,” off of their Goat’s Head Soup album from 1973. Along with a bunch of great candid photos from back then. Even without the famous vocals, every note of this track sends my soul soaring. Okay. Enjoy, gang.
If you follow Q, then you know how incredibly frustrating and depressing Red October is getting.
Trying to wade through the optics and the psyops. It permeates everything right now. It is in absolute overdrive.
And the fact that Phil is NOWHERE… only proves that this is all really happening. This constant subterfuge.
He pops up sporadically just to post something that basically we already know, but nothing that comes out and really says anything about what is or isn’t going on.
Obviously, it’s supposed to be this way right now. You can’t blow everybody’s cover at this final stage, right?
It goes beyond the “Fog of War” at this point, because I think it’s less about “war” and 99.9999% about waking up as many people as possible so that they will get out and fucking VOTE.

On the home front —
Aside from the hidden 5G war that is nearly over, my morning here is not going so great.
Late yesterday evening, I got a text from my coordinator at the agency, letting me know that the patient I see on Saturday evenings (today) is going into a permanent care facility and that today will be my last time being with her.
I really like this woman a lot, even though she is deep into dementia at this point. It makes me so sad that she will be permanently gone from my life after tonight.
And then tomorrow and Monday morning, I have my final jobs with my absolute most favorite patient of all time. (She’s the one that I mentioned went to Yale after WWII and holds several Divinity Degrees and is almost 90 and is absolutely AMAZING. ) She lives in Florida during the winter and she flies back down there in a few days. She has a whole other crew of caregivers down there. And, thankfully, her home down there survived both hurricanes just fine.
I am so sad to see her go, gang! I really don’t see myself still being in this job by next Spring, assuming she survives the winter. So this is also breaking my heart — saying goodbye to her , too.
It is the hardest part of this job. Even if I don’t “adore” every patient, I am still walking smack into the peak intensity of their lives, their families, their memories, their joys, their past present and future fears. And then I walk back out. And on I go. But it all stays with me — the energy of their humanness and the sanctity of their homes, all of which is quickly coming to a final curtain of some sort.
It is much more intense for me than the last time I did this kind of work, several years ago.
Honestly, I can barely process it on any given day. And then I have to factor in: Am I making enough money or not?
After I got the text about my patient going into a permanent care place — and I know she has no clue this is underway; she has no clue about anything anymore, or even who I am. We spend 5 uninterrupted hours together each Saturday and she has no clue who I am. But she is so kind and we talk and talk and sometimes we laugh and we have a beautiful time together, even though she is not grounded in any sort of reality. Well, I immediately started looking at the want ads again last night. And I found 3 ads for a place that I wouldn’t mind working at. Clearly, they were hiring in earnest, because they had 3 separate ads.
I went to sleep having decided that I would at least apply and see where it leads. But when I woke up this morning, ALL of their ads were gone. Obviously, the jobs were already filled. That quickly.
So on we go. I just have to keep breathing and keep processing and keep trying to stay focused on what my life is really all about. (Give love, receive love until I’m ready to move on.)
