Here Comes Thursday!!

That rally in Long Island last night was terrific!

The energy was fantastic and the crowd was fantastic, And it seemed to me like it was the absolutely 100% actual Trump. No body doubles last night.

Phil had told us to “listen closely”. In particular, I noticed one Q connection — when Trump said that the illegal migrants were on the “17th floor” of the hotel, while homeless US veterans were sleeping on the sidewalk outside the hotel.

Other people in Phil’s chat caught a couple of air-Q’s.

But it’s interesting that, after the rally, Phil posted about the aria that Trump ended the rally with last night — “Nessun Dorma” (none shall sleep, at dawn I will win). And he said that was our confirmation.

Oddly enough, I found the aria so creepy that I had shut it off at that point. The rally was over anyway. And I was disappointed that he didn’t use the usual “YMCA” by the Village People to end his rally in NY!!

But it seems like the aria was used for a specific reason and it totally went over my head.

If you missed the rally, here is the replay (check out the size of that crowd! 20K people, with more thousands outside, watching the jumbo screens. Here’s praying Trump is right when said he will make NY great again in about 4 weeks after his next inauguration!!!!!):

In other news —

Nick Cave sent out a Red Hand File yesterday, wherein he posted his readers replies to his recent question: “Where or how do you find joy?” He also noted that the Red Hand Files had officially turned 6 years old!

He said, in part:

I was entirely unprepared for the response. Over 2,000 letters arrived in the first few days and they are still pouring in. So many of your answers are extraordinarily moving, from thoughtful and eloquent treatises on the nature of joy, to a tiny voice from Limerick, Ireland, saying simply, ‘Golf’ – a response that, for some inexplicable reason, reduced me to tears. …

The replies from his readers about JOY are here. Frankly, the replies are so numerous, that I just sort of glazed over after reading the first few. But Nick maintains that he was read every one of them (and more — because these are not all of the replies he received).

You can read his reply in full here.

I leave you with this!! Because I missed it so much last night!!

(You know, even though I’ve been gone from NYC for a really long time now — after 9/11 everything changed there for me — I still consider NYC my real home. It truly would make me so happy to see NY become great again.)

Okay. Enjoy, gang.

So far, so good!

The training for the new job yesterday was really long and there was a ton of information. I was a little wiped out by the end of the day, but wow, gang.

I worked for this same company several years ago, and it was a good company to work for, but they have since been taken over by a different franchise and these new people are incredible. Such joyful, happy, helpful, kind people. (This is a non-medical in-home senior caregiver job.)

And God is all over that place. For instance, when you don’t hear the staff talk about “being lucky,” but instead they talk about being blessed, you know you’re in the right place.

Today I have a ton of training videos to watch here at home, and then some quizzes. That will likely take all day. Then tomorrow, half a day of training. And then I officially start.

I am so glad I chose to get back into this work part-time. What an incredible company to be connected to right now.

In other news —

Nick Cave sent out an unusual Red Hand File this morning. It has not been uploaded to the website yet. However, in today’s letter, a reader wrote in asking Nick to ask his readers a question and have them answer him, for a change.

So here is the question Nick asked his readers to answer:

I have a full life. A privileged life. An unendangered life. But sometimes the simple joys escape me. Joy is not always a feeling that is freely bestowed upon us, often it is something we must actively seek. In a way, joy is a decision, an action, even a practised method of being. It is an earned thing brought into focus by what we have lost – at least, it can seem that way. My question is, where or how do you find your joy?

He also added that rehearsals for the upcoming Bad Seeds tour are getting underway, so he won’t be back with the readers’ replies for a few weeks.

And that is it for today. I have to run some quick errands before I get down to the training videos.

Enjoy your Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!

Tom Petty’s estate is getting ready to re-release Straight Into Darkness, with about 12 new, never-released songs added to it. A 3-CD set. I can’t wait!

About the video below:

“Music video for the French TV version of ‘Straight Into Darkness’ performed by Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. Directed by Alan Bibby. Featuring newly remastered footage of the band performing at the Record Plant in 1982”

Here is Tom and the band in their early 30s. Enjoy!!

“Straight Into Darkness”

There was a little girl, I used to know her
I still think about her time to time
There was a moment when I really loved her
Then one day the feeling just died

We went straight into darkness
Out over the line
Yeah straight into darkness
Straight into night

I remember flying out to London
I remember the feeling at the time
Out the window of the 747
Man, there was nothing, only black sky

We went straight into darkness
Out over the line
Yeah straight into darkness
Straight into night

Oh give it up to me, I need it
Girl, I know a good thing when I see it
Baby, wrong or right, I mean it

I don’t believe the good times are over
I don’t believe the thrill is all gone
Real love is a man’s salvation
The weak ones fall, the strong carry on

Straight into darkness
Out over the line
Yeah straight into darkness
Straight into night

We went straight into darkness
Out over the line
We went straight into darkness
Straight into night

c – 1982 Tom Petty

JAG Re-Arrests SCJ Amy Coney Barrett

AG rearrested Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett Saturday night, a day after she sided with the Court’s liberal minority about whether to allow Arizona election officials to reject new voter registration forms that do not include proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a passport.

White Hats allege Barrett’s vote on the matter was unconstitutional and violated an agreement she and President Trump had etched in stone following her first arrest in May 2021 […]

As reported then, Navy JAG and Army CID investigators detained Barrett for recusing herself from a pivotal vote that could’ve exposed widespread election fraud in Pennsylvania. Her silence was a massive blow to the faith President Trump had placed in her and enraged conservatives nationwide. Her wanton betrayal had almost merited a trip to GITMO, but President Trump instead requested she be confined to house arrest and fitted with an ankle bracelet, which she has worn like an indelible tattoo ever since. Here on the home front…

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the death of someone who, in hindsight, probably mattered more to me than anyone else on the planet. It is hard to believe he has been dead for 50 years.

Greg was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1974, the summer I turned 14, and my life was absolutely never the same after that.

I went to visit his grave a few days ago and was sad to discover that no one is maintaining it anymore. It was overgrown with weeds that I tried to tidy up. But the plaque is faded and the whole thing was just really difficult to process.

50 years is a really long time. A lot of the people who knew him are likely not even still alive. Others, obviously, moved on with the business of living their lives. 50 years. To me, his death was yesterday.

(Also known as Ecclesiastes 3)

“Turn! Turn! Turn!”

To everything – turn, turn, turn
There is a season – turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything – turn, turn, turn
There is a season – turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together

To everything – turn, turn, turn
There is a season – turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

To everything – turn, turn, turn
There is a season – turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late!

Getting Ready for An Easy Day

At least, I hope so.

No laundry, no housecleaning. At least, I don’t think so.

Sandra has to go to NYC today for a fitting for her upcoming role in HBO’s The Gilded Age, Season 3. So I’m just going to sit here at my desk and work on the screenplay today by myself. I think.

We shall see! You never know when those pesky fleas will suddenly make a return engagement and demand our complete attention.

I had a great surprise yesterday. My Q-following friend, who lives in town, was on her way to another friend’s house, who lives out in the country even farther than I do — and she stopped in to say “hi!” and to pick up a bottle of goldenseal because someone else she knows is struggling with a UTI.

Goldenseal is an INCREDIBLE all-natural antibiotic, gang. Use it for viruses and infections. I always have at least 2 bottles in the house — one, in case I need it, and another in case someone else needs it in a hurry and the local store is closed. This stuff literally saved my life 3 years ago, when 3 different prescription antibiotics only made me sicker and sicker and sicker and I was going into sepsis…

But it was so nice to have a friend stop by and say hi. It doesn’t often happen, since I live anywhere from 25, to 500, to 3000 miles away from everyone I know.

Music-listening from yesterday!!

This song always makes everything in life completely and 100% endurable!! (Seriously, try it sometime.)

I was listening to it while bathing 5 (FIVE) small and unhappy cats yesterday in the kitchen sink… It made the fleas a lot less annoying. Glenn Miller & his Orchestra, “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree,” 1942!! Enjoy, gang.

A Happy Birthday, Indeed!

Today, I am 64, gang!

I’m really looking forward to my picnic in the park with Kara this afternoon.

I am so very glad we are doing that because I won’t lie, gang; I am really fighting depression today. Tomorrow would have been my dad’s 94th birthday — when I was growing up, he and I always shared a birthday cake. Usually one baked and decorated by my mom.

Then, as I got older, my dad and I almost always were together on those 2 days that were our birthdays, even when he and I weren’t getting along so great.

Well. I miss him so much today. But from 5AM onwards this morning, people have been texting & emailing me with various “happy birthday” greetings, so it is hard to be sad!!

In fact, Wayne, my ex-husband who is usually in NYC, texted me from Tokyo, where he is on vacation, to wish me a happy birthday. That really brought a smile to my face.

Next in line was my other ex-husband, in Seattle, wishing me a very happy year ahead and crowning that happy greeting with a “Cash App” gift!!

Ditto my beloved cash-app-using friend, Valerie!

Anyway. I have heard from quite a few people, so that has made me feel very happy. And on Saturday evening, at the train station, they had flowers and a card for me. So, I am going to make it. I realize that life has to go on.

Nick Cave sent out a really wonderful Red Hand File today, about writing his song, Brompton Oratory, which is one of my favorite songs of his, ever. Honestly, it is in my Top 5 of a songwriting career that spans over 40 years. (However, he mentions that the 4th verse is “controversial” but it’s always been my favorite verse in the song… I always seem to be on some other planet from the rest of the world.) Anyway. He says, in part:

It was my circumstances at that time that changed everything. I was going through a break-up, things were very fraught and the events started forcing themselves onto the page. I wrote Brompton Oratory the morning after I had been unceremoniously defenestrated from what I thought was a rather special and groovy relationship, and in the high tragedy of the moment, I found myself seeking consolation in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as Brompton Oratory….

Gang, Sandra and I made such great progress yesterday and I am just really, really getting very excited about this screenplay adaptation for our play (The Guide to being Fabulous).

I think it’s safe to post now that HBO has asked Sandra to come back for Season 3 of their popular series, The Gilded Age (she was in Season 1), and Sandra agreed. She starts filming her scenes in a few weeks.

She also signed on for a limited run play at Playwrights Horizons in NYC that begins rehearsals in September, and our staged reading for The Guide to being Fabulous will be in October in NYC (during the run of the other play), so we are just — you know, we have a ton of work to do as her schedule gets extremely crammed.

But I’m excited!!

Aside from Steve Bannon having to report to prison today (which I think is optics but its looking like he’s still gotta go in there), there is not much news.

From Bannon’s War Room last night:

“Charlie Kirk On The Imprisonment Of Steve Bannon During Campaign Season: ‘The PROMISE I Make To You Is That This Is Only Going To Make Us Work Harder.'”

Phil is planning to go live tonight at 9PM Eastern time. Check the link later to confirm.

In other news!

Nick Cave sent out a Red Hand File today — a celebration, of sorts!

With great pleasure, no small amount of gratitude, and even a certain pride, I would like to announce that today I received the 100,000th question to The Red Hand Files, all of which I have read.”

He went on to answer 3 questions today, and he closed, in part, with:

Thank you all for sending in your questions and comments to The Red Hand Files. I cannot begin to express how important they have been to my understanding of the connectedness of things. Indeed, their effect has been profoundly humanising. …”

Yes! We are still listening to the Bee Gees around here in the mornings. But we have fully progressed into their phenomenally successful disco era!!

I leave you with this gem from the final year of my wee bonny teenaged girlhood!! “Tragedy”, 1979. This song was popular when I moved briefly to Ukiah, California:

Ukiah, California

And I lived briefly in one of these (same color and model as this one!):

Okay!! Enjoy, gang!!!

A Perfect Day!!!

The weather is perfect for catching up on some gardening, so I’ve sent all the cats outdoors to take care of that for me!!

Meanwhile…

Wow, is it the most perfect day. Sunny, warm, but not too hot.

Aside from doing some weeding and then the laundry, I’ll be happily at my desk working on the screenplay adaptation for the entire day.

Okay.

The “news” is weird. Feeling like more intense psy-ops, gang, as they try to frighten people into thinking here comes WWIII.

Charlie’s update for today (minus Charlie, though)–

From Real Raw News:

Seven Deep State Jurors in Custody; One Dead Resisting Arrest

Seven of the twelve Deep State-adjacent jurors who wrongfully convicted President Donald J. Trump on imaginary charges are currently in military custody at a JAG Holding center in South Florida, and an eighth jurist is dead, JAG sources told Real Raw News.

The deceased, a male in his early 30s and presumably the most boisterous anti-Trump critic of the dozen, was killed near his New York City home on June 20 after JAG investigators armed with a military arrest warrant confronted him while he was returning home from a coffee shop two blocks from his house. The incognito investigators presented their credentials and the warrant, and the juror claimed they had made an enormous mistake. He reportedly told investigators they had the wrong man and, in fact, espoused amorous affection for President Trump, saying he was MAGA and had twice voted for Trump.[…]”

Nick Cave sent out a very interesting Red Hand File early this morning. A young man from the UK wrote to him, with some — I don’t know — really intolerant views of his own parents, wanting Nick’s input. And Nick’s reply was really great. Sort of breathtaking, in his support of parents everywhere. He said, in part:

My advice to you, Jason, is to look at your parents with a little more understanding and compassion. Indeed, be joyful in the act! They are, after all, your parents. Try to see them for what they are, mirror images of your future self – lost in a strange and new world that has been constructed around them, just as some day you will be lost in the world that is, at this very moment, unfolding unfathomably around you….”

And that is really it for now, gang.

In honor of Curt Smith turning 63 (!!) today — more from Tears for Fears! Their massively huge hit that I have always really loved but that I understand even better lo! these many decades later….”Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, from Songs from the Big Chair, 1985. (This was a huge hit when I was 24 and working at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. So many memories started flooding me, gang, while listening to this!) Okay. Enjoy!!
