Happy Thursday, One & All!

Yes!!

This afternoon, is our lunch date at the pizzeria in Granville!!

And to refresh your memory — it was voted MOST ROMANTIC LOOKING PIZZERIA IN THE WORLD back in 2023:

But the food there is fantastic, gang.

All ingredients are locally grown by farmers out here in the Hinterlands. And the recipes are sort of “nouvelle cuisine” but applied to pizza and pasta.

Dennis and I are both very excited! In fact, we talked on the phone for 3 hours last night, all about how excited we are! (And other stuff…)

Me, later, wearing another sundress a slice of pizza…

*************

Oh, and here’s something that doesn’t happen often, OOPS! I mean, EVER, in my world these days–

American Express wrote this morning to tell me:

THEM: “We’ve increased your credit limit!”

ME: “Fucking A!!! Are you serious??”

So that was really cool. I guess this means the fucking fake lockdown that completely wiped me out financially is officially over…

Yay.

************

Okay.

So, yesterday, my favorite nearly-95-year-old Japanese client and I went to Peony Bistro for sashimi (and sake), and this happened:

You know how he refuses to read his fortune cookies, or claim them in any way whatsoever because he says he doesn’t need any more fortune, he’s already got enough?

Well, yesterday, for some inexplicable reason, he decided to read his fortune and it was just incredible, gang. He read it and said: “This one is true — it’s you.” And he handed it to me.

Wow. It kinda broke my wee bonny heart!

*************

And in other good news!

Some “sort of” decent photos were posted on Instagram from night #2 of Nick Cave’s show in Latvia last night!!

And here’s the setlist from night #1. Check out that incredible encore! The encore alone would be worth the price of the ticket:

Okay. Next up is Bulgaria, next week, but both nights are SOLD OUT.

******************

All righty!

You know, Dennis has listened to all of my old music demos on my YouTube channel, and he has been just incredibly flattering about that part of my long-ago career…

But the time is gonna come soon when he will need to start checking out some of my fiction. (Perhaps not ALL of it, since no one really needs to be exposed to ALL of it, do they??)

He was going to start with some of my stuff that’s available in eBook editions, but I offered to lend him print copies of my books from my own collection since they are easier to read when you’re out back on your porch and the sun is going down…

But which title to give him for his first exposure to my often unbridled and excessive brain?

Here is the short list. Please feel free to VOTE and vote often!!

  1. Neptune & Surf — my first book! It put me on the map across the globe! Won awards. Made me famous. Still in print 26 years later! But is exceedingly hardcore and exceptionally graphic.

2. 1954 Powder Blue Pickup — short. Easy to read. To the point. But is extremely hardcore. Plus, he owns a pickup truck and while it isn’t blue or from 1954, it could still fill him with many, many seemingly questionable ideas!!!

3. Freak Parade — another award winner! Very popular with critics! A lot about the music scene in NYC in the late 90s. But it is also exceedingly graphic and also kinda way too close to my actual LIFE back then… and way too much about NYC.

4. The Curse Of Our Profound Disorder — novel-in-progress, but almost complete! He could be the first person to read it, outside of the publishers! Not too sexually graphic but nonetheless graphic, a tad bit brutal, very raw, a bit relentless. The kind of book that, as you sit on your porch in the fading sunlight of the glorious Hinterlands, could make you say out loud; “Jesus Christ. Who the fuck IS this woman??”

(no image available yet)

I guess we shall see, gang!! I will keep you posted…

**************

Meanwhile, I suppose I will close this now and get some stuff done before I head out to the pizzeria!

[curious typo above…I wonder how they missed it?]

Anyway!

Enjoy your Thursday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting!

I love you guys. See ya!

****************

I leave you with this!

Morning listening music!!!

I absolutely loved Sha Na Na when I was a wee bonny lass and I loved their version of this song!! And I still loved it this morning, all these decades later. I sang along at the top of my no-longer-wee bonny voice!!

“Yakety Yak”, Sha Na Na, 1973. Enjoy, gang.

"Yakety Yak"

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash
If you don't scrub that kitchen floor
You ain't gonna rock and roll no more
Yakety yak (Don't talk back)

Just finish cleanin' up your room
Let's see that dust fly with that broom
Get all that garbage out of sight
Or you don't go out Friday night
Yakety yak (Don't talk back)

You just put on your coat and hat
And walk yourself to the laundromat
And when you finish doin' that
Bring in the dog and put out the cat
Yakety yak (Don't talk back)

Don't you give me no dirty looks
Your father's hip, he knows what cooks
Just tell your hoodlum friend outside
You ain't got time to take a ride
Yakety yak (Don't talk back)

Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak
Yakety yak, yakety yak

Back At It! Sort of!

Well, I slept GREAT last night, but I still feel out of sorts today. I could really use another day off, but my favorite nearly-95-year-old-Japanese client awaits!!

Well, he probably doesn’t know that he “awaits” because I’m guessing he’s still sound asleep. But on some spiritual plane, he “awaits”! So off I must go!

OH!

And here’s an interesting coincidence — my favorite new person in the world, Dennis, is half-Japanese! (His mom was Japanese.)

I find that kinda ironic, don’t you??

Anyway. I’m thinking we will head out for sushi & sashimi (and sake) today, but I will let my client decide when I get there (and wake him!). So we shall see! (But as you know, he rarely says no to sashimi and sake…)

**************

This is from James Tabor. So interesting as well as exciting!!

It is in Hebrew, so if you don’t speak Hebrew, click the CC icon, then click Settings and select Subtitles, then OPTIONS, and choose your language.

The ratio of Lead isotopes in the bones of those in the Talpiot Jesus Family tomb match the ancient water supply of Sepphoris/Nazareth, not that of Jerusalem. This is a segment of a lecture given by Moshe Sharif, retired geologist from the Geologic Survey of Israel, based on the work of geologist Aryeh Shimron and samples collected in co-operation with the Israeli Antiquities Authority.”

A Lead Isotope Connection: The Talpiot Jesus Tomb and the Ancient Sepphoris/Nazareth Water System. (4 mins):

And just FYI, assuming all the psyops in Israel are over by then, I am finally, finally FINALLY going to go to the Holy Land with James Tabor’s “Tracking Jesus” archeology/history tour –which includes going to Nazareth — when the tours resume next year. I cannot wait. It will be a lifetime’s dream come true for me.

*****************

Well, it’s looking as if maybe FIVE people in Latvia take their cellphones to concerts with them, which is a step above the 2 people in Norway who did…

However, so far, it’s also looking as if those same 5 Latvian people also had lousy seats last night….

Anyway. This was the best I could get, photo-wise, from Nick Cave’s Solo Tour with Colin Greenwood on bass, in Riga yesterday.

A photo of Nick’s image on the large screen, from a distance:

Here’s hoping tonight yields something a little closer to the stage!! We shall find out!!

Then after tonight, it’s off to Bulgaria for 2 nights next week. Alas, both shows are also SOLD OUT.

However, if you hurry, and if you’re planning to be in Macedonia on Aug. 22nd (and who isn’t!!??) there are STILL tickets available for that show!! Buy them HERE. (Between now and the end of the tour on September 11th, the Macedonia show is the only show left that is not currently sold out.)

*************

Ronnie Wood has a new album coming out September 14th –“Fearless”, an anthology of his songs from 1965 – 2025. And yesterday he released the first track from it, “You’re So Fine”.

You can listen to it HERE on Amazon, but you can also listen on Spotify, etc.

*************

Phil is planning to do a livestream tonight at 8PM eastern time. Check here later to confirm, though.

It would be so nice to get some intel from him, finally, wouldn’t it?? We shall see.

The situation in DC gets curiouser and curiouser…. and seemingly less and less about “the homeless” and more and more about perhaps some “high profile arrests”???? As massive protests are appearing to get underway…

And that’s not counting the alleged Ukrainian assassin they took out in Alaska Sunday night….

il donaldo wasn’t kidding, was he? More popcorn, indeed!!

**************

And I’m thinking that’s it for today, gang. I want to try to sort of relax before I head to town for my shift.

Have a wonder-filled Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

**************

I leave you with this!!

Yes! My listening music from breakfast today!!

The Monkees’ “Tomorrow’s Gonna Be Another Day”, 1966. Enjoy, gang!!

Sorry I’m Late! Again.

Yes, that’s me — washing all the little cat bowls after breakfast around here…

That’s how it feels, anyway.

But, actually, I’m tired because I haven’t had a day off since last Tuesday (7 shifts in 6 days) and I guess I had kinda gotten used to having 3 days off each week.

But I slept great last night (and this morning) — closed up with the AC on; kittens out in the hall again; 2 full-grown cats in the room with me who were cuddly purr-bunnies and rather sedentary. Yay.

It felt great to just keep sleeping.

I got out of bed at 5:30AM, got back in bed at 7AM, and went right back to sleep.

HOWEVER–

I’m still sleepy.

******************

Okay.

Simon Parkes had a great update yesterday! It was only 12 minutes but it had some good intel (DC; and Trump/Putin/Alaska) and some mostly happy updates (unless, perhaps, if you live in the UK).

You need to be a member of Connecting Consciousness (free) to access his updates, but you can join HERE.

So many psyops going on right now, gang. It is really, really exciting. (Unless of course you are still asleep and hate Trump.)

*****************

I have nothing specific to post about today, gang. My brain is just sort of fried.

Although Dennis and I chatted last evening for about 2 and a 1/2 hours, while I was still quite coherent. So that was nice.

And it looks like we are going to have another lunch date on Thursday — at that pizzeria I worked at briefly a couple of years ago. In Granville. Where the pizzas were phenomenal. (Although Justin, who was the amazing chef back then, has since died from a Fentanyl overdose, thank you very much you fuckheads who sold him the Fentanyl…)

And the tips there were staggeringly incredible every night. I made so much money. Until the cement floors there killed my wee bonny legs so I had to quit. And then Social Security wrote and reminded me (alas, too late) that you can’t get early retirement checks and also make staggeringly great tips every night…

The pizzeria shortly before it opened in early 2023. Voted BEST SCENERY of a PIZZERIA ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! (Yes, it actually looks like this.)

Anyway.

Yes, the money (and food) there was GREAT. And long story short — I am STILL paying back Social Security.

(But I did get to see Nick Cave solo in Cleveland at Playhouse Square that year and stay a couple nights in a hotel. So I think it was great making all that money while it almost lasted…)

And just to refresh your memory — My great seat in Cleveland on September 25th 2023, before Nick Cave and Colin Greenwood took the stage. And what a phenomenal show it was, gang. It blew me away:

**************

Which reminds me–

Here’s hoping the humble citizens of Latvia have plenty of cellphones on hand tonight, as Nick and Colin take to the stage!!!!

From Lucca, Italy, a few weeks back, wherein Nick Cave smiled as never before:

*************

Word from Sandra yesterday is that we will not be rehearsing “The Guide to being Fabulous” in NYC in September. She still has some details to work out with the Director of our staged reading. So it’s looking like October, and we’ll be back in NYC.

Even though this is taking forever, and the schedule keeps shifting around, it gets more exciting by the day, gang. I’m seriously hoping that I won’t be this tired when October rolls around…

Me and an absolutely NON-WORK vacation would be so fucking nice right about now.

I have not been on Route 66 since 1993… where did the time go, gang?

*********

I think that’s it for now.

I have to finish up the laundry. And, yes, vacuum the house. But the fleas appear to be absolutely under control!! Yay. So different from the Hell-on-Earth of last year.

And then maybe, just maybe, I will get some WRITING done!!

Have a terrific Tuesday, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks for visiting,

I love you guys. See ya!

Here’s this! Let’s dream again!!

The Rolling Stones, 1964 – “Route 66”. Enjoy, gang!!

Happy Days!

Yes, gang, another incredibly beautiful morning here in the Hinterlands!

Really mild temperatures with a light breeze. Really sunny. Blue sky.

And today, my shift doesn’t start until early afternoon, so I was able to take my time getting out of bed, getting all the cats fed, getting my own breakfast, and — YES! — going back to bed with my:

The client I have this afternoon/evening is a new one. Well, I filled in for another caregiver this past Friday evening and met the client for the first time then.

I am really glad to be asked back. She was wonderful! We got along just great.

And what a beautiful home!! A rambling split-level. Just huge. You need a map to find your way to the bathroom and back. And a breathtaking property — really beautiful landscaping. It’s on the edge of a steep hill, with tons of trees and a splendid view of Granville.

She’s close to 90 now so she’s outlived most of her siblings, but she was one in a family of 9 children. And judging by all the many photos in her home, it was a really close and happy family. The vibe in her home is just so full of joy.

So I’m happy to have another shift with her and I hope she becomes a steady client for me. We’ll see. (It’s summer, so I’m probably just filling in for caregivers who are on vacation.)

*******************

Okay!

So guess who finally started reading my blog?? Yesterday.

And guess who asked to not be called the “eHarmony guy” anymore??

Because his name is Dennis.

So now he will be called Dennis!

But I still want to be mindful of stuff I post here to the blog, gang.

And NO! Not because Dennis is going to closely monitor every single solitary thing I say about him….

Or will he??? Hmmm…. This arrived yesterday, too:

That said, though!!

We had another great 3-hour phone chat last night.

And we are both really looking forward to our next lunch date — this Saturday afternoon, at the Peony Bistro!

AND — yesterday, when I went to the Peony Bistro with my favorite almost-95-year-old Japanese client, THIS was my fortune in the fortune cookie!!

So how happy is that??

**************

Okay!

It looks like folks in Bergen, Norway do not believe in taking photos with their phones when they are out at concerts!! Which is a great thing, if you ask me!

However.

There was almost nothing to choose from on Instagram from last night — at least, not yet. There are still 2 more shows.

There was one brief video uploaded, where Nick’s voice was just magnificent! But there were almost no photos at all.

SO here’s this!

From Nick Cave’s solo show in Bergen last night, with Colin Greenwood on bass! (And, yes, if you enlarge it, you will see that they are actually on the stage!)

************

And I think that’s it for now, gang. I want to get some stuff done around here today before heading to town.

Have a great Thursday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

************

I leave you with this!

Watch out! It’s another Johnny Cash classic!!

1963, “Ring of Fire”!! Enjoy, gang!

What a great way to start a morning!

Just right off the bat, let me say THIS:

Me and my new friend had such a great day yesterday, and by 8AM this morning, he sent me:

Wow. I have always LOVED that fucking song!! And this is the first time anyone has ever dedicated it to me. HUGE beaming-heart- smiley face going on over here, gang.

Also– yes, after spending about 4 hours together yesterday, we spoke again on the phone last night for 2 and a half more hours.

And he sort of stunned me by saying he wanted to try the Peony Bistro! (I had told him about how I go there once a week with my favorite nearly-95-year-old Japanese client, and so my friend looked it up on the Internet and wants to go.)

Anyway. He and I are going there for lunch on Saturday, after my shift. I’m guessing the staff there will be shocked to see me show up with a completely different person… and I’ll still be in my uniform, so I feel like I need to announce to the staff: “I’m not on the clock, I’m on a date!”

Okay! And on a similar note — yes, I’m having lunch with my client at the Peony Bistro today!! I guess my new home-away-from-home.

***********

All righty!

On an additional similar note – the Agency has kind of loaded up my schedule for the next couple of weeks. Yes, I always need the money, but jeepers!

This is why he and I are trying to fit in a date after my shift. I have something like one day off for the next 2 weeks. (Believe me, I would much rather NOT go out on a date in my uniform…)

And I still haven’t gotten the files I need from Sandra for the play, so I’m guessing they will arrive the very moment I have absolutely no time to think straight, but we shall see!

And it has sort of floated into my awareness, gang, that my new friend is a lot like Wayne (my ex-husband in NYC). And I mean, A LOT. I didn’t realize it at first, but the similarities keep arising. (This is, of course, a good thing, because I adore Wayne; he is one of my best friends.)

In fact, I had shown my new friend a photo from my wedding to Wayne — I can’t remember what we were talking about that made me show him that photo — and my friend said, “Wow, he looks just like I did back then.” (Over 30 years ago.)

And now that I’ve seen more photos of my friend from back in those days, he is absolutely right. He and Wayne looked a lot alike.

Hmmm….

****************

Well, okay. I don’t really have time to post anything else today except this!

Yes! Nick Cave’s Solo Tour with Colin Greenwood on bass resumes tonight in Norway — for 3 sold out shows. Then moves on to Latvia, for an additional 2 sold out shows! Yay!

As always, in lieu of actually being there, I look forward to what the shows are going to look (& sound) like on Instagram!

Meanwhile, here’s this, from back in Lucca, Italy:

And now I seriously gotta scoot!!

Have a wonder-filled Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

*************

I leave you with this. Again!

Nuff said… right?

Enjoy, gang!

Happy Days, All Around!

Okay, lots of cool stuff today!!

I’ll start with this:

Alice Cooper participated in a tribute concert for Ozzy Osborne in London on Friday, and Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance! (They are both, of course, bandmates in the Hollywood Vampires).

From Johnny’s Instagram page:

***********

And after I posted to the blog yesterday, Keith Richards posted a Happy Birthday post for Mick’s birthday on Instagram. Here are some of the photos!!

***************

And in AWESOME news!

I saw this while I was with my favorite 94-year-old Japanese client yesterday and wanted to post it right away!! But I’m not allowed to fool around on my phone when I’m with a client…

Anyway!

Awesome news.

Yesterday, in Arles, France, Nick Cave was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres — for his significant contributions to the arts and literature of France!!! (I think that’s what it’s called — I had to piece that together from several different Nick Cave fan accounts on Instagram.)

From Susie Cave’s Instagram account yesterday:

So how beautiful is that, gang?? He seems to be having a TERRIFIC summer!

And from the sold out Arles concert last night — not many photos to choose from, but the outdoor venue looks like it was really cool.

The Solo Tour will continue in early August, for 3 nights in Bergen, Norway, but they are sold out.

***************

Okay!

In the eHarmony department….

Truly sad news for you guys!! But he and I chatted on the phone again last night and he told me — in no uncertain, no vague or hard-to-understand way — that he doesn’t want me writing about him. He really values his privacy.

I think I said something like: “Oh nooooooo!!!”

So there you have it!!

But, wow, gang. At least on the phone, he and I get along spectacularly! And it’s looking like we are going to try to meet in person later this coming week.

But OMG. even while we have had entirely different lives, our personalities are so similar.

And he actually listens to me when I’m talking to him. And he also makes me laugh.

AND–

He also makes me CRY. In the best way!!

This video was waiting for me on my phone this morning. He could not have picked 2 more perfect singers. I adore them both — and they are also both connected to my birth dad, in the best way.

When I watched this video in my bed, first thing, my little heart beamed with JOY and I started to cry.

Merle Haggard and Marty Robbins – Today I Started Loving You Again (1969) (5 mins):

*************

And if you will forgive me for perhaps jumping the gun a little — but I can’t help it…

The chorus to THIS wonderful song from 1987 keeps popping up in my head here this morning, REALLY LOUDLY (play it loud and sing along to the chorus, gang!!):

***********

And I think that’s it for now.

I have a few hours here before I have to head out to see the retired Minister and his wife. So I want to get some writing done.

Tomorrow, the carpenter comes to give me an estimate for replacing the 126-year-old basement stairs… and then I think I’m working with Sandra on the play. We shall see.

Have a blessed Sunday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!!

************

James Tabor is starting a new series — one that is really, really close to my heart– how any mention of Jesus’ family rather quickly gets removed from the New Testament in the various gospels.

The Fading of the Jesus Family–Phase One (17 mins):

Another beautiful morning!

But it’s going to be another scorcher of a day.

But do I really care????

NO!! My little window AC unit works fantastically, gang. What a gift from God!!!!

However, I was gone for 12 hours yesterday, and I had left the AC on, with the kittens closed up in the room. And when I got home, they were sort of like: “What the fuck is your deal??We’ve been locked up in this refrigerator the whole damn day. Where the hell have you been??”

And then they went zooming out into the hall and got all the other cats riled up and no one settled down for about 90 minutes after that, so I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep last night.

Still. I’m so happy. I love my AC!

***********

No real update on the eHarmony front today, since I had to work back-to-back shifts yesterday. But we did have a few nice texts!

Hopefully, this evening, we will get to chat on the phone again!

But, wow, both shifts yesterday were incredible, gang.

My favorite 94-year-old Japanese client, and then my other favorite client — the retired Chaplain who is back from Florida. I had a really long shift with her and it was amazing. The stuff we talked about.

And I had cause to read part of her CV yesterday because it was out on the table. Wow. She did unbelievable stuff as a Chaplain. Always going into the heart of horrible places, to work mostly with rescued infants and children. I don’t know how she did it — for decades. The horrific stuff she’s had to witness. Her faith in Christ is absolutely unshakable.

And even though I was there forever, the time just flew. She really helped me get some clarity on that memoir I’m writing about the 1970s and my various father figures. She said something like, “God gave you your voice to express through your writing. Use your voice. You must write the memoir. Be honest and be brave with it. You will help people.”

Something like that. it was just what I needed to hear.

****************

Okay!

Here’s this!!

From Wayne this morning. He leaves Cambodia on Monday and he is not ready to go back to NYC. He has had a great time — this was his second trip to Cambodia.

************

And here’s this!

Keith and Charlie in the mid-1960s!

Oh, and a happy 82nd birthday to Mick Jagger:

********************

And tonight, Nick Cave’s Solo Tour with Colin Greenwood on bass continues! A music festival in Arles, France. And, yes, it is SOLD OUT.

Here’s this, from the show in Cannes!

Next, they play 3 sold out shows in Bergen. Norway. (I cannot believe it is almost August, gang. Where did the time go???)

************

I think that’s it for now. I’m still kinda worn out from yesterday, so I want to try to just lie down for another minute, before I have to drive back to town.

Enjoy your Saturday, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

************

Absolutely Happening!

Yes, it’s a great day.

It’s gonna be a scorcher, though, so here’s hoping I am able to install that window AC unit because I’m going to need AC later, for sure.

I’m guessing it’s easy to install, but the thing is fucking heavy. It was kind of astounding that I was able to get it out of the car, carry it into the house and up the stairs (on my 65th birthday, no less!). Of course, the guy at Best Buy — who was maybe 19 years old and, well, a guy — made it seem effortless when he loaded it into the trunk of my car…

Anyway! It’s in my room and I’m going to tackle it today — while waiting on a different plumber, because the other plumber never showed after 3 days in a row of waiting.

My clients who have been in rehab, and who were supposed to come out this month, but didn’t — I got word from the Agency yesterday that they will still be in rehab for the entire month of August. Which means I’m going to have to live close to the bone around here.

But at least I got everything worked out about my retirement money with the Social Security office yesterday. (Another glitch in the system because of putting me onto Medicare now.) I should have my money for July in a couple of days.

But this is that double-edged sword thingie: less shifts to work but more days off! More time to work on the novel (and/or the play). So that makes me really happy, gang.

************

Okay. The eHarmony thing is making me REALLY happy, too. So we shall see. We’re supposed to chat on the phone today — for the first time. So far, we’ve just been texting on our phones.

And if the chat goes well, then we’ll meet.

I can’t really go into any details yet about why I am so happy, because we don’t know each other and I don’t want to violate his privacy — I try only to violate the privacy of people I know really well!!! (And then their privacy becomes an utter wasteland. So you’ll just have to wait…)

However, I will share this. But I won’t say why. I’ll just say it sparked a really happy evening around here. I have always loved this song.

**************

Okay.

I’ve never been a Black Sabbath fan, and I didn’t have an opinion of Ozzy Osborne, one way or the other, but of the hundreds of photos on Instagram yesterday, I loved this one, so I share it here.

From the Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles:

Tonight! In France! (A music festival in Cannes.)

The Nick Cave solo tour with Colin Greenwood on bass continues. Yes! It is sold out!!

No photos yet, obviously, but here’s this again!!

And here’s this –Nick with fans; it was taken the other day in Pompeii:

*************

And I guess that’s it for now.

Gonna tackle that AC unit and pray for a spectacular result!

And I’m hoping that, this afternoon, the new plumber shows up on time. (Allegedly 1 or 1:30. We shall see.) Then the carpenter comes on Monday, and I should be all set to submit my application for the USDA RD home improvement loan!!

Okay. Enjoy your Thursday, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

****************

Here’s this again! Great driving to town music!! Now, especially, I love this song…

From my wee bonny girlhood! “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” The Eagles, 1972. Enjoy, gang!!

Another Glorious Day?

Well, the weather is absolutely unbelievable. Again.

And today is the day I’m taking my favorite 94-year-old Japanese client out to the clubhouse again for lunch…

The place with all the spectacular views, that he really just loves. (“Utopia,” is what he calls it.)

We’re celebrating my birthday, and what would have been my dad’s 95th birthday (today), and my client’s upcoming 95th birthday, and hanging out with whatever other spirits decide to be present!

And I slept great — AGAIN. Just the most incredible weather.

And I did indeed get a window AC unit from Best Buy yesterday, although not the one I was waiting on. It seems to be lost in oblivion somewhere, so instead I cancelled that one, and bought one that was on sale and right there in the store.

And now it is right here in my bedroom, but I haven’t installed it yet.

Anyway.

Today is also the day that my retirement check from Social Security is supposed to be in my checking account, but there is nary a sign of it!

And I need to start paying off everything I spent in NYC.

So at 9AM on the dot, I have to call them and I hope to get it straightened out. And get it done before I have to leave for my shift.

So, even though I had a really nice time on my birthday yesterday, the thrill is starting to wear off…

On a happier note, though…

The eHarmony situation is still going GREAT.

I don’t feel comfortable posting the details because I don’t actually know him yet, although we are planning on meeting. However, it is sufficient to say at this point that it is really going great.

He is not only really cool (see yesterday’s “desperado” tattoo comments) and only 10 minutes away, he also has a sense of humor, he’s intelligent, he’s retired, he’s divorced, his kids are grown, he loves animals, and he also likes shooting guns (!!)… and he loves MUSIC. And he has a past he doesn’t want to talk about yet! (Don’t we ALL???!!!)

So there is really just a lot of cool stuff to start off with. So we shall see! But, meanwhile, I’m happy about it, gang. I really am.

Here are a few photos from the second sold out night in Rome, last night!

Nick Cave’s solo tour of Europe with Colin Greenwood on bass:

Starting on Thursday, they will be in France, but it is sold out.

More from James Tabor —

Shroud of Turin–Medieval or Ancient in 30 Minutes? (30 mins):

And this naturopath, Dr. Jeffrey Burke, was giving a private demonstration at the health food store yesterday, when I went to meet my girlfriend after she was done working (she works there). Very interesting guy!! He has a regular in depth podcast about herbs.

This is part of a deep-dive into medicinal mushrooms (33 mins):

I think that’s it for today because I need to get everything ready so that I can dash out the door the minute my phone call with Social Security is over. (This is my local office, where they actually pick up the phone and help you — unlike at the main office, where they put you on hold for, like, an hour and 24 minutes…)

Anyway, I gotta scoot.

I hope you have a wonder-filled Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

A classic from Marty Robbins! 1957 — “White Sport Coat”. Enjoy, gang!

What a Glorious Day!

Yes! It is my birthday today!

Officially on Medicare — the big 6-5!

And, of course, tomorrow would have been my dad’s birthday. There were tons of photos of us sharing our birthdays together as I was growing up, but for some reason, this is the only photo that remains.

I’ve posted it here before, but here it is again! In our first house in Cleveland. I’m 2. My dad is 32. Summer of 1962.

And later today, I’m heading into town to meet up with my favorite Q-following girlfriend and we’ll be going out to dinner. I can’t wait.

It is another STUNNING day! And it was only 59 degrees Fahrenheit when I woke up this morning!

Wow, gang. Usually, on my birthday, it is ungodly HOT. But I guess God had other ideas this year. I’m so happy.

*****************

Well, the plumber was not able to get here yesterday so he’s supposed to get over here before I have to leave for town. We shall see! But the HVAC guy came and his quote was indescribably reasonable. I kinda couldn’t believe it!! I am so hoping that I can get all this paperwork turned in before the USDA RD runs out of funds for the season.

Okay!

So. On the eHarmony front —

The guy I mentioned briefly the other day — the one who sounded interesting and who only lived about 10 minutes from here?

Wow. He wrote again yesterday. And we texted on the site for quite awhile — even while I was out taking a walk in yesterday’s gorgeous weather. I’m sure I looked like one of those people I always feel sorry for — they can’t just enjoy a nice walk, they keep stopping to text someone on their cellphone…

Anyway. Yes, well, that was me! And then eventually, we moved the texting off of the site and onto our own phone numbers. And we texted on into the evening.

He is so cool!! About a year older than me. With a lone “Desperado” tattoo that was also quite cool (even though I’m not a fan of tattoos. It was totally old school. I loved it!)

Well, I don’t want to violate his privacy so I won’t say more. But I hope we meet! And I will add this!!

**********

And speaking of Desperados!!

Here’s this– more cool photos of Keith in aviator shades!! Late 1960s.

**********

In case you didn’t see this yet —

More documents on Martin Luther King’s assassination are going online at DNI.gov. You can read all of it HERE.

***********

And here’s this!

The swimming pool and jacuzzi this morning at Wayne’s hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia!

***********

And my friend Roger in the Netherlands sent me this article from The Guardian last night!

Nick Cave fans swarm charity bookshop in UK after musician donates thousands of books

“Nick Cave fans have descended on a charity bookshop in Hove, in southern England, after the musician donated 2,000 books from his personal collection….” [full article here]

(So, what is up with Nick Cave??? First, that amazingly HAPPY guy in Lucca, Italy? Then he unloads thousands of his books??? Hmmm….)

Meanwhile–

In Rome, yesterday, at the sold out show!

Nick Cave and Colin Greenwood continue to move people beyond belief.

I wish I could embed some of the videos I saw on Instagram from the end of the show. So many people got onstage with them!!

They return to Rome tonight, but is is also sold out.

*************

And I’m thinking that’s it for now.

So far, no word from Best Buy regarding my window AC unit. But since it’s right by the restaurant where we’re having dinner later, I’m going to stop in the store anyway.

Another heatwave is coming this week…

Me, again, maybe. But I hope not…

***************

Okay!!

Enjoy my birthday, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

I leave you with this!

Hank Snow’s classic, “The Golden Rocket”, 1950. Enjoy, gang.

“The Golden Rocket”

From old Montana down to Alabam’
I’ve been before and I’ll travel again
You triflin’ women can’t keep a good man down
You dealt the cards but you missed a play
So hit the road and be on your way
Gonna board the Golden Rocket and leave this town

I was a good engine a runnin’ on time
But baby I’m switchin’ to another line
So honey never hang your signal out for me
I’m tired of runnin’ on the same old track
Bought a one way ticket and I won’t be back
This Golden Rocket’s gonna roll my blues away

Hear that lonesome whistle blow
That’s your cue and by now you know
That I got another true love waitin’ in Tennessee
That midnight special is burnin’ the rail
So woman don’t try to follow my tail
This Golden Rocket’s gonna roll my blues away

Hear her thunder run through the night
That Golden Rocket is doin’ me right
And that sunny old southland sure is a part of me
Now from your call board erase my name
Your fire went out you done lost your flame
And this Golden Rocket is rollin’ my blues away

That old conductor he seemed to know
You done me wrong I was feelin’ low
For he yelled aloud we’re over that Dixon Line
The brakeman started singin’ a song
Said you’re worried now but it won’t be long
This Golden Rocket is leavin’ your blues behind

Then the porter yelled with his southern drawl
Let’s rise and shine good mornin’ y’all
And I sprang to my feet to greet the new born day
When I kissed my baby at the station door
The whistle blew like never before
On the Golden Rocket that rolled my blues away
