Well, Monday is the day I go down to see my dad for “Thanksgiving”. I am planning to not cough the entire time I’m there! But of course, now I want to try to get him to the grocery store while I’m down there (see Phil’s post), just to make sure my 93-year-old, terminally ill dad has non-perishables on hand.

In the place where he lives, there is a dining hall that feeds everybody. But I am panicking a little, and I said, “But, Dad, what if the kitchen workers can’t get to work for several days, or what if food becomes a little scarce and they can’t feed all of you?”

Yes! My dad started panicking, too! “What are you talking about? Why would something like that happen?”

“Because Trump really won the election in 2020.”

“I know he did, but why does that mean I won’t have any food?”

“Because there might be some form of Martial Law, keeping everyone at home for a few days.”

“Martial Law??!! But this is the United States of America! We’ve never had Martial Law. You’re scaring me!”

Yes! Being related to me has many, many joyful moments. (That wasn’t one of them, but there was one, back in the summer of 1972…)

So, anyway. Yes, I upset my dad but I didn’t mean to. But I still want to make sure he has non-perishables in his room. So I’m going to try to get him to Aldi’s on Monday, wheelchair and all.

I’m not feeling 100% hopeful, but we’ll see.

Anyway, gang. Please make sure you are stocked up with groceries this week, just in case any bank runs collide with your local food supply.

I know it seems hard to believe, but this was my driving-to-town-listening music (on repeat for 25 miles) from yesterday!! Yes, play it LOUD and drive about 95 mph on the deserted freeway in the middle of nowhere because you’re running late! Enjoy!

Yes, I finally stopped coughing. It happened during the night.

Yes, just in time to head back to the train station tonight… (God forbid I should have felt good when I had 5 fucking days to myself!)

Anyway. We are moving forward.

And, btw — if you want to try the goldenseal protocol for a bad cold or other viral infection or bacterial infection:

I use goldenseal root tincture (this brand):

One milliliter of goldenseal root in a small amount of water. Drink that every 2 hours for the first 8 hours, then switch to every 3 hours for a total of 3 days. And then drink plenty of water throughout. (FYI, the dropper that’s included does not have milliliter markings. I use a separate dropper that has the markings.)

I also take 1500 milligrams of chewable alfalfa tablets (500 mgs, 3 times a day).

Refrain from any probiotics or prebiotics during those 3 days, but then load up on them afterward. (You don’t need to buy those crazy-expensive supplements — I drink 2 ounces of organic apple cider vinegar daily (with the ‘mother’), as a prebiotic. And then 1 cup of organic plain Greek yogurt daily, as a probiotic. Be sure it contains active cultures and NO sugar.)

I only resort to goldenseal when it feels like the regular route is not enough (elderberry, echinacea, oil of oregano, etc.). Goldenseal is intense.

Anyway. So now I am finally fine.

This one really disturbed me– not that I necessarily oppose vigilante justice (I’m not referring to all-out mob “justice”), but the details of this were kind of gruesome:

A former FEMA official whom U.S. Marines arrested in August was beaten to death at Guantanamo Bay, a JAG source told Real Raw News.

I leave you with another one of my favorite albums that I’ve been revisiting lately — Catholic Boy, by the Jim Carroll Band. I love the whole album, but this particular song has a real deep place in my heart — “Day and Night”, 1980.

This album came out the year I finally moved to NYC (Nov. 15th 1980). I remember reading an incredible interview with Jim in Andy Warhol’s magazine, Interview, right before I moved to NYC, never dreaming how influential Jim Carroll would wind up being for me as a writer. I also remember my best friend at the time (still in Ohio), telling me she’d just heard an amazing song on the radio, all about a bunch of people who died… And not too long after that, I was living in NYC, seeing Jim in concert, and singing along to every single word of that song (“People Who Died”).

Her life was largely problem free, PERFECT, until I made it difficult for her when I decided to run for President. The Fake News, and others, went after her mercilessly, and because of the fact that she felt it inappropriate, due to her position, to defend herself, it just never stopped! While tough and strong, she was made to suffer in those years from 2016 until her Retirement. I will never forget the many times people would come up to me and say, “Your sister was the smartest person on the Court.” I was always honored by that, but understood exactly what they meant—They were right! She was a great Judge, and a great sister. She will be truly missed!”

In my own life — I want to promote this to you. I always keep it on hand and it is incredible:

Yesterday, I came down with a cold and got one of those wretched sore throats. Quick-Blast is amazing at getting rid of that sore throat almost instantly.

I also take a bunch of other stuff — tons of elderberry, echinacea, reishi, oil of oregano, colloidal silver nasal spray. Etc. And then old-fashioned chest rub to stop from coughing so that I can sleep….

(And, yes, I did have yet another one of those confounding, endless, frustrating dreams last night, but at least this one didn’t break my heart.)

And then, lo & behold, the cold is just about gone this morning. I’m planning to stay in bed all day, too, just to be safe. Next week is Thanksgiving, and if I’m sick with anything at all, I can’t be around my dad.
