Sorry I’m late!

I have today and tomorrow off, plus I was up kinda late (for me, anyway), chatting with my eHarmony guy after I got home from my shift last night!

So after the many, many cats and I had breakfast this morning, I went back to bed for a while and it felt FANTASTIC!

It wasn’t too hot (yet). The windows were open and the birds were singing. Most of the kittens and cats were downstairs somewhere, or otherwise being peaceful. So it was great.

And I’ve already had my chat with Sandra regarding the play — I won’t have any real work to do on it until August 1st – 15th. But some of the things Sandra wants to add to the script are terrific. I’m really excited. This play (which I love) just gets better and better and better, gang.

The carpenter is coming to give me a quote today, but that’s not until the day is basically over. (When the heat should be at its hottest and a thunderstorm should be underway!)

So now I have the AC on, the laundry is almost done, and the day is wide open in front of me!!

Okay!

For those of you who were not able to get me a gift in time for my birthday last week [HINT: That was every single one of you…] —

The Summer Sale over at Cave Things is still going on until TOMORROW morning at 10AM, UK time!

So there is still time to get me this! On sale! And help feed my addiction to dishes! I only have SIX creamers in the house, so clearly I need one more!!

Up Jumped The Devil Milk Jug — $39 (plus shipping to the USA).

An immediate sellout when it first appeared on Cave Things in 2021, the Up Jumped The Devil Milk Jug finally returns in a slightly updated form. A delicate glazed ceramic milk jug with blue watercolour painting, it echoes a refined Victorian teatime object, but carries a disturbing motif – the Devil himself.

Hurry! Time is running out….

And lest we forget!! One of my all-time favorite songs by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, “Up Jumped the Devil”, 1988:

*****************

Yesterday’s shift was yet another easy one with the retired Minister and his lovely wife! After we were able to persuade him to do his Physical Therapy exercises, we spent the rest of the evening watching old reruns of “The Love Boat,” Daniel Boone”, and “The Andy Griffith Show”!

And, yes! I got PAID to do that! So what’s not to love?

But seriously, it was a very pleasant shift. And as always, I am super glad to be back home.

I think that’s really it for now. I wish I weren’t under an ironclad mandate to not write about my new friend, but such is life. I can at least tell you that it continues to amaze me — the things we have in common. And how considerate he is. And unpredictable. And straightforward and funny.

I will say that he said, when he sits out on his porch, he can hear the train when it’s passing through Crazeysburg! That gives you an idea of how close he is — and also how LOUD that fucking train is! (You wanna see cats & kittens scatter? Wait ’til that train starts approaching!!)

The ACTUAL, OOPS! NOT the actual train that comes through my town!

And here’s this!! Because I love it and WHY not??!!

“Folsom Prison Blues”

I hear the train a comin’
It’s rolling round the bend
And I ain’t seen the sunshine since I don’t know when
I’m stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin’ on
But that train keeps a rollin’ on down to San Antone

When I was just a baby my mama told me
“Son, always be a good boy, don’t ever play with guns”
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry

I bet there’s rich folks eating in a fancy dining car
They’re probably drinkin’ coffee and smoking big cigars
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can’t be free
But those people keep a movin’
And that’s what tortures me

Well if they freed me from this prison
If that railroad train was mine
I bet I’d move it on a little farther down the line
Far from Folsom prison, that’s where I want to stay
And I’d let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away

The Sh*t Doesn’t Quit!!

Even though I slept GREAT last night and in my own bed, even…

And even though it is a really pretty day here and not too hot…

The HUDMIDITY is off the charts again. I can’t breathe!!

From the Floyd psyop…

Which reminds me!!

The Sheriff’s Deputies around here are really nice.

One stopped by here on Tuesday to let me know why my mailbox was sitting in a useless heap in the grass — an electric company truck driver had accidentally run over it.

And yesterday, the same electric company gave me a brand new one and it is really nice!! Much nicer than the one I had before. When I came home from my shift, there it was, installed and looking just really, really perfect. It was kind of incredible, actually. I love my new mailbox.

Hopefully, it is also a good sign that I will get that home improvement loan soon and the whole house will get updated.

******************

Anyway!

I’m back to being brain dead from the humidity again.

Also, my 2 clients that were supposed to come out of rehab this week are still in rehab, so I am off work again today.

I am not going to look at my bank account. I’m not going to think about all the money I just spent in NYC. I’m just moving ahead. (And I also want to mention here, for no real particular reason — I really miss the food in NYC. Every restaurant that I ate in had absolutely the best food!!)

Okay.

I still need to contact the plumber, the HVAC people, the water softener guys, and a carpenter — to get bids to submit with my loan application.

Other than that, though, all I have on my plate right this very minute is The Curse of Our Profound Disorder.

I am hopeful that my brain will begin functioning here soon.

Me, soon. I hope.

***********

Okay, here’s this!

Wayne’s hotel in Phnom Penh! He says it very nice!

And here’s this!

Yesterday, one of Keith Richards’ grandsons, Orson, turned 25!! (I have a hard time wrapping my mind around that number, but anyway.)

Posted to Instagram by his mom, Lucie de la Falaise, (Marlon’s wife). Orson is in the middle:

The summer sale over at Cave Things continues!!

If you’re still undecided about what to get me for my birthday next week, here’s this!

Happy Tea Cup & Saucer: On sale — $33.00 (plus FREE NOT free shipping!!)

The photos from last night’s show in Mantova, Italy were not the greatest. Most of the people who posted photos were sitting really far away, but here’s this!

And tonight, they play a music festival in Lucca, Italy, but the show is sold out.

***************

Meanwhile…

My shift yesterday with my favorite 94-year-old Japanese man went just splendidly.

He still remembers that I went to NYC. And he remembers why I went. And we had a great chat about so many things yesterday. He had just really great clarity. It was wonderful. (He also has a great sense of humor and we laughed a lot.)

We’ll see what I can do about having my own really great clarity here today. If all else fails, at least I have an AC window unit arriving on Saturday.

***********

And I think that’s it for now, gang. I’m gonna get started here.

Enjoy your Thursday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

************

I leave you with this!

A HUGE AM Radio hit the summer I turned 14. I loved this song. I had the 45 and played it over and over and over…

“Beach Baby” by First Class, 1974. Enjoy, gang!!

Getting better by the minute!

Wow!

Not only an actual day off, but the bearable weather continues — which means my brain is still working! Yay!!

AND — the Summer Sale over at Smashwords starts today, gang, and continues through the month of July.

All the info and direct links are on my substack page. The sale includes free downloads of Freak Parade and The Muse Revisited: Volumes, 1,2, &3.

The sale is for my eBooks only. And these books, as always, are intended for ADULT READSERS ONLY. Thanks!!

I don’t USUALLY look like this, but just for today, I look like this…

***************

In other great SALE news!!

Cave Things started a summer sale today, too!

All kinds of cool things are on sale over there to help you beat the heat, or whatever it is you’re trying to beat….

Yet again, some of my favorites are on sale!! Including, but not limited to;

The Hotel Girls Notebook — $12.00 (plus tons of shipping to the USA) (Only adults can look at the image below, thank you very much for your cooperation)

The fantastic Happy Tea Set, the whole set, or separate pieces of it! The Happy Tea Pot, $68.00 (plus all sorts of overseas shipping fees!)

Up Jumped the Devil Milk Jug! $40.00 (no shipping Oops! Tons of shipping there, too!)

That milk jug commemorates one of my absolute favorite Nick Cave songs of all time!!!

“Up Jumped the Devil”, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, 1988, from the incredible album, Tender Prey.

**************

Here’s this!

Not only because I love this photo so much, but also because my great-great grandmother was a full-blood Blackfoot Indian, and judging by the date listed below, she very well might have known Chief Two Guns White Calf! I think that is so cool.

***********

And speaking of guns…

I am really, really thinking I will have to cancel my monthly membership at the shooting range, gang. I am only getting one day off a week these days, and it is going to continue for the rest of the summer.

I’m going to call over there today and see if maybe I can just temporarily suspend my membership until Fall. We’ll see. I hate to do it, but I have` absolutely no time. And I just keep paying and paying and paying…

************

Okay, well. have I had some intense shifts the last couple of days. In a good way, but still intense.

I saw the retired Minister and his wife on Sunday evening and it was great. He is making such great progress. He was lucid the entire time I was with him, and he talked a lot about his ministry, as well as when he first decided to become a Christian when he was in his teens (he is 80 now).

It was an amazing evening, but as usual it sort of wiped me out emotionally.

Ditto, my shift with my favorite client who is back from Florida. For different reasons, although she is a retired Chaplain, so it was all in the same vein.

I still don’t understand WHY ON EARTH I decided to return to this type of work, but clearly, all of this is on my path right now for a reason.

Oh, and oddly enough!! In my novel-in-progress, The Curse of Our Profound Disorder, that I am working on after a 26-year hiatus… the father in the story is a retired Minister. And the upcoming remainder of the novel is primarily about HIM.

Hmmm…….

**************

On the home front —

I downloaded all the forms I need to fill out in order to apply for that USDA home-improvement loan/grant for low-income seniors living in rural areas.

We’ll see if I can get those filled out before I leave for NYC, but something tells me it would be pushing my luck. I have some stuff I need to do on the play today, and today is my only day off.

But at least I have the forms!!

Home improvement in the Hinterlands!

*************

And I think that’s it for now!

I have to finish doing the laundry then get focused on “The Guide to Being Fabulous”!

Have a terrific Tuesday, wherever you are in the world!

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

Yes, the Annie Murray kick continues around here!

How can you NOT love this one, gang??? One of her first hits — “Snowbird.”

Anne Murray, “Snowbird”, 1969. From her album, This Way is My Way. Enjoy, gang!!

“Snowbird”

Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting
For its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers
That will bloom again in spring

When I was young
My heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me
That’s the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life’s
The thing that I can’t win

Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

The breeze along the river seems to say
That he’ll only break my heart again
Should I decide to stay
So, little snowbird
Take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes
Where the peaceful waters flow

Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

Yeah, if I could you know that I would
Fl-y-y-y-y away with you

A Breezy Wednesday in the Hinterlands!

I know — it looks like my apartment in Paris in the 1920s, but …

Wow. So this is a cool development, gang!

Already, my psychological stress level has diminished to the point where we had TONS of really intense thunderstorms here last night — which usually triggers my PTSD — and I breezed right through it!

I didn’t even flinch! I hung out happily on the bed with Blackie & the kittens and just kept watching my new absolute favorite show on Netflix:

“Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories”. From 2019.

I love this beautiful opening to each episode. I never skip the intro (2 mins):

***********

If you saw my post yesterday, about the new Guitar Player interview with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai …

I know I’m getting older now, too — Steve Vai is my age, and Joe Satriani is 4 years older.

However, I remember them so well from the 1980s when they both had HAIR!!! I miss that.

Joe with hair
Steve with hair

They have a new album coming out, in case you missed that part. And a new single, with Glenn Hughes on vocals. “I Wanna Play My Guitar”:

***************

And to be fair: Me in the 1980s, when I also had hair!

Oh wow, gang!!

So I guess you probably saw that all the stuff about “Pope Leo IV” was just a mistake!! A cruel lie, even!!

Here’s the new Pope!!

Pope Keith I

And while I’m at it — here’s this!!

Brian, Keith and Mick, 1965 — I love this photo:

**********

And on the kitten front —

Here’s something I bought that is a lifesaver!!

I was worried about using the vacuum cleaner anywhere near Blackie & the kittens because they are closed up in my room and cannot escape the scary noise.

This works great!! I’m so glad I bought it. Cat litter, cat hair, pieces of my chenille bedspread that the kittens have discovered is really fun to shred!! GONE!

I can actually sweep the entire upstairs in under 4 minutes. And it also works on uncarpeted floors, too. (Here’s a link on Amazon if you want one.)

Okay, it looks like Cave Things is having a 40% Off sale on all prints!

My favorite is in stock AND 40% off, so if you need my address, just GOOGLE it!!

(Don’t use the Spring Garden St. address in Easton, PA, though, because I have not lived there in 20 years!! And someone other than me will receive this treasured item!!) (And, yes! It’s on sale now for a mere $245 plus a zillion in shipping fees!! I eagerly await its arrival, so thank you!!)

And another photo from the show in Vancouver:

Tonight, they play San Francisco. Saturday, they play the festival in Pasadena. And then the tour is OVER!! Buy those final tickets here.

On a happy note–

Next week is a big week for me, gang. On Tuesday, I have been invited to have dinner at the Granville Inn by my dear friend Kara!

And then on Saturday, after my midday shift, I’m having lunch with my favorite Q-following friend, at our favorite haunt — Tequilaville!!

Here’s a less warehouse-y looking shot than the one I usually post:

And here’s what it looks like inside:

Okay, I know. But we’re still on the Emmylou kick around here, and I can’t help it!!

Here’s the song she wrote in memory of Graham Parson’s after he died — and his body was burned at Joshua Tree:

But, to fulfill Parsons’ wishes, Kaufman and a friend stole both a hearse and his body and drove it to Joshua Tree. At Cap Rock Parking Lot, they poured gasoline into the open coffin and lit it, creating an enormous fireball. They were arrested and eventually fined $750.00, for stealing the coffin.

At that point in time, Emmylou Harris was a backup singer for Graham Parsons. Afterward, she became a huge success on her own.

I definitely used to sing this song in my sets on the Folk Music circuit in NYC.

The beautiful “Boulder to Birmingham” from 1975. Enjoy, gang!!

“Boulder To Birmingham”

I don’t want to hear a love song
I got on this airplane just to fly
And I know there’s life below
But all that it can show me
Is the prairie and the sky

And I don’t want to hear a sad story
Full of heartbreak and desire
The last time I felt like this
It was in the wilderness and the canyon was on fire
And I stood on the mountain in the night and I watched it burn
I watched it burn, I watched it burn.

I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace.
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face.

Well you really got me this time
And the hardest part is knowing I’ll survive.
I have come to listen for the sound
Of the trucks as they move down
Out on ninety five
And pretend that it’s the ocean
coming down to wash me clean, to wash me clean
Baby do you know what I mean

I would rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham
I would hold my life in his saving grace.
I would walk all the way from Boulder to Birmingham
If I thought I could see, I could see your face.

c – 1975 Emmylou Harris, Bill Danoff

A Magnificent Morning Underway in the Hinterlands!

It’s a little chilly here but, wow, is it sunny, gang!

And this afternoon, the little maternity playpen for the kittens arrives and I will no longer have to worry about those newborn kittens being out there in the freezing cold at night. Even though their little cat house outside is filled with straw, and I’m guessing that Little Blackie’s body heat keeps them very warm. Still, it will be a relief to have them indoors.

Well, Peitor and I got even MORE great work done on the revisions of the TV pilot yesterday. However, I have 6 (!!) pages of notes that he emailed me this morning. I need to try to go over those before I leave for my morning client. So this post will be brief!!

**************

First off, if you follow Phil then you are likely aware that we seemed to have passed a huge and wonderful milestone out there somewhere.

He posted this last night!!

And in case you aren’t keeping track of it — nearly 70 countries so far have now negotiated better trade deals with the US due to Trump’s tariffs. So things are really looking good, gang. Hang in there!!

(If you need my mailing address to have it sent to me, google it. It’s EVERYWHERE.) (But don’t use the Spring Garden Street address. I haven’t lived in Easton, Pennsylvania in many, many years.) Yes, from this morning. Still on a Neil Diamond kick around here.

The fantastic “Soolaimon/Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” live on Hot August Night (1972). Enjoy, gang and Happy Listening!!

Splendid Day!!!

This will be another brief one because I gotta scoot!! But, wow! What a gorgeous day here, gang!

Yesterday was so gloomy and snowy and windy and cold, and as I was driving to and from town, I just felt like I couldn’t deal with it a moment longer… I needed SUN!

And this morning, the entire weather report for the next 6 days had changed!!

It is so sunny here right now that it feels like Spring.

And tomorrow night is the final night of lighting the votives at “bedtime” because Sunday , we move the clocks ahead and it will still be daylight for me at “bedtime.”

I put that in quotes, because when I go to bed, I do a bunch of things: I watch a little TV on my phone, I study at least one lesson of the many courses I’m studying right now, and I listen to a chapter in whatever audio book I’m listening to (currently: Tales of the Jazz Age by F. Scott Fitzgerald.) And then I go to sleep.

One of the online courses I’m studying right now is really fascinating. (All the courses I’m always taking are Judeo-Christian in some way.) This particular course is “Judaism” and taught by Isaiah M. Gafni, Ph.D. A professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

This is my second course taught by him and I always learn some very interesting stuff. (If you’re new to the blog: when I was a few weeks old, I was adopted by a very religious Polish-Latvian Jewish family in Cleveland. So for most of the first 18 years of my life, I was surrounded by very religious Jews. I started learning Hebrew at age 5, and went to Hebrew school 3 times a week, until I was 9 and begged my parents: “Can I please go to dancing school???” For some blessed reason, they said yes.)

Anyway. The current lesson discusses the transition from the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem (by the Romans, in 77 CE), and how Judaism went from being strictly in the Temple and run by priests who were born into the priesthood, to being run by rabbis who were schooled to become rabbis and who were very mobile and could travel to other communities.

This is something I have always wondered about and this particular lesson was fascinating.

**********

Okay, anyway. Before I forget!

Il donaldo trumpo posted the popcorn meme again!! So get ready for some sort of political bruhaha to get underway this weekend. (And remember that you’re watching a movie.)

Ernest Tubb, the Texas Troubadour

From Ernest Tubb, his incredible classic, “Walking the Floor Over You.” 1941. Enjoy, gang!!

Too Early to Know the Facts

The main thing I want to focus on today is the fire.

In case you weren’t aware yet, another suspicious fire started in the Hollywood Hills, and it is being attributed to arson, for sure. Perhaps even a DEW (Directed Energy Weapon) — like the atrocity in Lahaina.

One thing people seem to agree on is that this is not just a “natural” forest fire, like they always have around Los Angeles.

News Treason Channel 17 had some very insightful comments last night in their video with Mike King. (Below). They are stressing that we can’t know yet who is behind these fires, but that we are still at war with the worldwide Deep State. And the most important thing to note right now is that the White Hats & Trump are at least controlling the narrative of the news.

And this is very important.

News Treason Channel 17 — first 40 minutes cover the fire.

Q News Review With Mike King #029 (2 hrs ):

************

Also very interesting to note that, although il donaldo trumpo is posting a lot about the LA fires, the fake Newsom, etc., there have been NO popcorn comms at all.

At least speaking for myself, I do not feel like “we’re watching a movie” with this one. But it is interesting to consider how evil Hollywood had gotten and now they’re basically burning it to the ground.

I just hate like hell to see innocent people and animals suffer — but that can also be considered the price of war. And it is at least a consolation that they are no longer trying to blame “climate change”….

Also interesting to note that yesterday, Phil’s whole online life got totally hacked. Click HERE and scroll down.

In addition he just now posted something interesting from the Iranian Channel. Read it HERE.

This CD is currently in my CD player in the kitchen. When Wayne and I drove out West on our honeymoon, about 31 years ago, this CD was playing in the car quite frequently! Hillbilly Music: Thank God! Vol. One

And in other news!

Nick Cave sent out a great Red Hand File the other day, regarding Bob Dylan mentioning Nick and the Bad Seeds’ Paris show in a tweet. (I thought it was posted to Threads, but apparently it was on X.)

Nick said, in part:

Sitting in bed with Susie in a post-tour stupor, watching ‘Carry On Up the Khyber’ and eating Belgian chocolates (gift from a fan), my phone suddenly lit up as excited friends started sending me Bob Dylan’s tweet–…”

And in my own life…

Well, a few of you guys either have a dark sense of humor or want to encourage me to become a stalker!

I think about 10 of you actually voted in my opinion poll the other day (!!)(see post here) and it was a tie between:

“Drive to his house and park across the street and stare at everything that goes on there”

and

“All of the above”

And even though I wasn’t actually going to do any of the options, and I was going to leave him the fuck alone…

I did actually join his Youtube channel. Even though there are tons of videos of him in concert all over the internet, his personal YT channel only has one video posted on it and that was posted about 3 years ago.

Didn’t seem like an active channel, really. But I could not help myself. I posted a comment and asked him a question that could, you know, be read by anyone in the world and not sound salacious or offensive or anything.

And I figured that maybe some day, a couple years from now, I might get some sort of response.

Well. Try a couple of hours later (!!!)

Holy cow.

I was astounded! But it was a very cheerful reply. This whole thing has really just blown me away, gang. In the last 50 years he has lived all over the place. And I have lived mostly in NYC, but also in Pennsylvania, and several places in Ohio… And now we live 30 miles away from each other? In the middle of nowhere?

And why did I even think to google him in the first place? So weird.

Anyway.

There’s even more good news — I seem to be past the notes and research phase, and I believe the actual memoir is getting ready to come through, gang.

And if you’re keeping track — Valerie and I have been doing our “creativity schedule-thing” for over a week now! Without missing a day. And she has almost completed a new painting!!

And here’s a little more research for the memoir–

Keith Richards remembers John Lennon (1 minute):

************

And that is it.

Yoga awaits. And then dinner and a rerun of “Mrs. Brown’s Boys” and then collapse in bed!! And get ready for a double shift tomorrow!!

But it’s all good, gang, because I am excited about going back to NYC…

Okay. Enjoy what’s left of your Monday, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

I leave you with this!! Enjoy, gang!!

Keith Richards – The Interview You’ve Never Seen Before – Restored From 1988 (33 mins):

Today Promises To Be A Very Good One!

And by that, I mean that I get the whole day to myself to sit at my desk and write.

Sandra has to be in NYC for some meetings, so we aren’t working on the play today.

However — speaking of the play: Man, are we behind the 8-ball now, gang. The days are flying by and we still have a lot left to tackle on the play by September 18th. Primarily, cutting it back to fit the time constraints while hoping it still makes sense.

(But another “however” — once we take the play to NYC, we can take some of this stuff we’re cutting out and put it back in. We won’t have the same time constraints Off-Broadway.)

Anyway! Today is my own! And I hope that sitting at my desk all day will yield some brand new sentences and won’t just be about re-writing sentences that are already there!

Other than that….

Don’t forget that Phil should be live tonight at 7PM Eastern.

And ALSO don’t forget that the July Sale over at Smashwords is almost over!! You have from today until July 31st to download 4 of my (old) eBooks for FREE! (And I have to say, gang, that usually these month-long summer sales are hot for the first week or so and then quiet down. But this time, the people just keep coming and coming and coming — no tacky pun intended!!).

Here are the quick links:

Freak Parade

The Muse Revisited, Volume One: Early Erotica

The Muse Revisited, Volume Two: Erotic Novellas & Longer Works

The Muse Revisited, Volume Three: More Early Erotica

(If you want to know which stories are in which volume, you can check HERE)

Don’t forget that these books are intended for adults only.

And more of my books and eBooks can now be found at MarilynsRoomBooks.com

***************

And ALSO also don’t forget! The Summer Sale is still going on over at Nick Cave’s Cave Things!! Up to 50% off, all across the store!

Including these: SEX pencils!!

Because nothing says “Hi! Let’s have sex!” like giving the gift of pencils!! (I’d be mindful of handing out that first one, though, unless you like really messy sex that involves the police arriving and some sort of prison sentence!)

Nick Cave’s Sex pencils! For people who have weird sex!

And that’s it!!

I’m off to write great things!!

I hope you have a terrific Tuesday, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks for visiting.

I love you guys. See ya!

*****************

I leave you with one of the above-mentioned Sex Pencils! On the surface, the song seems harmless enough — but dig deeper and it, well, gets weird!!

Honestly, gang, I love this whole effing album!! From Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! 2008: “Lie Down Here (& Be My Girl)”. Enjoy!!

“Lie Down Here (& Be My Girl)”

Well, you lost a foe
And found yourself a friend

(Lie down here & be my girl)
I’m back now, baby, that man

He won’t be coming round here again

(Lie down here & be my girl)

I’m trying to tread careful, baby
You’re as brittle as the wishbone of a bird

(Lie down here & be my girl)

We’ve been scribbled in the margins of a story
That’s patently absurd

(Lie down here & be my girl)

And let it all come down tonight
We can shine, shine
Let it all come down

(Be my girl, be my girl)

It’s a matter of some urgency, oh darling, can’t you see
I can’t hold back the tide

(Lie down here & be my girl)

And stop your frantic little fingers trying to collect the years
That pour from the hole in my side

(Lie down here & be my girl)

Oh, don’t worry, baby, this old snake banging on your door
Has got a few skins left to shed

(Lie down here & be my girl)

Oh, you look so good, you look so good
The rest is better left unsaid

(Lie down here & be my girl)

And let it all come down tonight
And shine, oh, we can shine
Let it all come down
Tonight

(Be my girl, yeah, be my girl)

You look so good, you look so good

One day I’ll buy a factory
And assemble you on a production line

(Lie down here & be my girl)

I’d buy a million of you, baby
And every single one of them will be mine

(Lie down here & be my girl)

I will fill the house with you, stack you up in every room
We’ll have a real good time

(Lie down here & be my girl)

But right now, I’m sitting here on my own
Going out of my mind

(Lie down here & be my girl)

And let it all come down tonight
And shine, oh, we can shine
Let it all come down
Tonight

You look so good, you look so good

I Wasn’t Even Out Of Bed!

And everything about this day was already really frustrating.

Here in the humble Hinterlands, Instagram has been down since 9PM last night. (I’m guessing it’s part of the White Hats blackout, so I’m trying to be patient…)

However.

Not only could I see that I had gotten a really nice DM from a friend in NYC, who wanted to tell me something about my novel Freak Parade (he was one of the very first people on Earth to read a final draft of it, way back in 2005); but, also, a friend in Switzerland had sent me a DM wanting to know how to wire me money to pay me for a book I had shipped to him.

These are things I definitely want to reply to but I cannot! Because I cannot get onto my Instagram account, and I don’t have either of their regular email addresses or phone numbers.

Plus, there is definitely a “man of interest” in Istanbul and I want to see if he sent me anything during the night. And, of course, the love of my life, a man in London… I want to see if he posted anything, for chrissakes. I’m addicted to all this!

But the worst news that lingered through to this morning, is that for some unknown reason, the Hollywood Vampires cancelled their show in Budapest last evening, at the very last minute. Meaning, the people were already queued up to get into the arena and suddenly the show was cancelled.

Even those celebrity-sleuths that we all count on to have the most up-to-the-minute details on everything imaginable related to famous people– the UK Daily Mail— had nothing!

Johnny Depp’s band Hollywood Vampires cancel Budapest gig at the last minute ‘due to unforeseen circumstances’ leaving queuing fans concerned

But nobody knew why they cancelled.

It is actually really disturbing. I hope that everyone is all right.

Well, my Zazzle store is still not up and running, but it’s getting closer. In the meantime, Valerie and I added this cool new merch opportunity!

1954 Powder Blue Pickup playing cards!!

I sent a link over to Wayne yesterday afternoon, and he was thrilled! And he said he would hand them out at the next poker game!

The reason I find this so funny is that (in case you haven’t read it yet) 1954 Powder Blue Pickup is an anal sex extravaganza from start to finish. I think the only thing I’ve ever written that is more relentlessly pornographic would be Half-Moon Bride.

To be sure, they are both love stories, too. But they are seriously not for the easily offended reader.

Anyway.

The merch store is still not open yet. But MarilynsRoomBooks.com is open, but more pages will be added.

Again, MarilynsRoomBooks.com is not a retail store. It is merely a convenient place to find links to all my books and eBooks that are for sale anywhere in the world. Since Amazon and I had that enormously HUGE falling out (worldwide) a couple of years ago, it is harder for readers, now, to find my books.

In other news–

From Real Raw News:

JAG Sentences Eric Holder to Hang

[…] clearly wanted from Holder an admission of guilt in the matter of firearms that went missing and were used in homicides and a mass shooting event, under his watch as attorney general of the United States.

But Holder had chosen to remain silent as he sat at the defense table with a smug expression indelibly etched on his weathered face. He had heard the admiral call him “a traitor,” a “cowardly assassin by proxy,” and a “servant” of the most diabolical creature to walk the earth—Barack Hussein Obama. […]”

[…] ‘A verdict has been reached unanimously,’ the admiral said, glancing at a stone-faced Holder. ‘The convicted is now sentenced to hang by the neck until dead…It seems we have an open slot Friday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m.’ “

Got anyone you love? Why not buy them these nice pencils?! Roses are okay. Chocolates are okay. A diamond is sort of a huge commitment. But nothing says love like pencils — especially these! (£7.50 plus shipping)

Okay, That’s it, gang.

Have a wonder-filled Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!

I love you guys. See ya!
