Was that cool, or what??

Wow, so the eclipse was incredible out here in the Hinterlands!

Not quite as dark as it got up in Cleveland

Cleveland yesterday at 3:15 in the afternoon!

But it did get really dark out here in Muskingum County. The schools must have closed for the eclipse, because plenty of neighbors and their kids were outside yesterday, watching the sky. (No one at all was wearing those crazy glasses, either.) And at the peak of the eclipse, it was dark enough that I couldn’t even see my neighbors anymore. And the occasional pickup trucks driving by had to have their headlights on.

I think I stared right at the eclipse for about 90% of it. And the most awesome thing, gang — about 2 hours later, when I sat down at the kitchen table to eat my dinner, I turned on the TV to watch “Vicar of Dibley” and I put my glasses on…

And I couldn’t see a fucking thing! Everything was insanely blurry. So I took my glasses off and I could see the TV perfectly. It was incredible. And I looked around my kitchen: I could see the clock without squinting; I could see the houses across the road through the screen door perfectly. It was amazing.

It’s not as perfect this morning but my eyesight is still better than it’s been in decades. So between eclipses and pearl powder with organic castor oil… I’m planning on throwing the glasses away. One day. Soon. I hope…

********

Okay.

Here’s today’s stuff:

Posted on Bannon’s War Room, but originally from Zero Hedge:

“Social media posts urging people not to take ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19 have been taken down by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).”

Listening- music from late last night!!

Another one from Linda Ronstadt’s Simple Dreams, 1977 — when I listen to this album now, gang, for the first time in decades, it amazes me that I still know every word to these songs! “Old Paint”. Enjoy, gang!

“Old Paint”

I ride an old paint
I lead an old dam
I’m going to Montana
To throw a houlihan
They feed in the coolies
They water in the draw
Their tails are all matted
Their backs are all raw

Ride around
Ride around real slow
The fiery and the snuffy are raring to go

Old Bill Brown
Had a daughter and a son
One went to Denver
And the other went wrong
His wife she died in a poolroom fight
And still he keeps singing from morning til night

Ride around
Ride around real slow
Well the fiery and the snuffy are raring to go

Well when I die
Take my saddle from the wall
Put it on my pony
And lead him from his stall
Tie my bones to his back
Turn our faces to the west
And we’ll ride the prairie
That we like the best

Ride around
Ride around real slow
Well the fiery and the snuffy are raring to go

Ride around
Ride around real slow
Well the fiery and the snuffy are raring to go

c- Traditional

Just a small handful…

Of the millions of people who have gone blind, insane, or simply died over the various and endless millenniums because they were outside and not wearing silly glasses, during an eclipse.

Okay!

Sorry I missed the entire weekend. I was ridiculously busy because of everything going on writing-wise, and then needing to work some extra shifts at the train station. But, hey — at least I lost 723 pounds from all that running around and not having enough time to eat!

But now, in addition to hardly being able to walk, my brain is just sort of stupefied.

But the GOOD news??!! I finally have the most amazing lawncare guy, EVER. He came out here on Saturday while I was at the station, and when I came home, even in the dark, I could see that my yard looked FANTASTIC! It literally brought tears of joy to my eyes. Finally, gang. It’s been 4 years since my yard looked this great.

All righty.

Here’s what I have for today.

This was from Simon Parkes on Saturday morning:

If you follow all the stuff about the RV and the Zim notes, then this seems to be some very interesting news!

Here’s Charlie’s update for today.

CHARLIE WARD DAILY NEWS WITH PAUL BROOKER & DREW DEMI – MONDAY 8TH APRIL 2024 (12 mins):

************

A new and very interesting series starts from James Tabor:

“In this new series I have gathered together a list of fateful New Testament passages that have been both understood and misunderstood over subsequent ages in ways that reinforce and foster incalculable harm to our lives.”

Seven Fateful New Testament Texts: “Jewish Bloodguilt” (19 mins):

************

Ross K. Nichols – The Messiahs of Moses (1hr 13 mins):

***************

From Donald Trump’s channel yesterday:

“I will be putting out my statement on Abortion and Abortion Rights tomorrow morning. Republicans, and all others, must follow their hearts and minds, but remember that, like Ronald Reagan before me, I, and most other Republicans, believe in EXCEPTIONS for Rape, Incest, and Life of the Mother. Great love and compassion must be shown when even thinking about the subject of LIFE, but at the same time we must use common sense in realizing that we have an obligation to the salvation of our Nation, which is currently in serious DECLINE, TO WIN ELECTIONS, without which we will have nothing other than failure, death, and destruction. We will not let that happen. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”

*****************

Interesting turnaround from the Vatican — (almost sounds like we’re getting back to normal around here, doesn’t it?):

“NEW – The Vatican in Rome releases “Dignitas Infinita” and declares sex change surgery, surrogacy, and gender theory as grave threats to human dignity.”

****************

And I think that’s kind of it for now. I gotta get back to the laundry around here and then get back to work on the TV Pilot.

I hope you enjoy the eclipse today, wherever you are in the world.

Thanks for visiting. I love you guys, See ya!

***************

My mood this morning was quite curious, and more than a bit on the melancholy side. So I have two rather different options for you today, both of which appealed to me equally while drinking my coffee in bed.

Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton, the truly glorious, “I Never Will Marry” from Linda’s incredible album, Simple Dreams, 1977. Sort of my life story, not counting the 2 marriages….Kleenex suggested but not required:

And from the inimitable and incomparable Hank Williams, “Settin’ the Woods On Fire”, 1952:

“Settin’ The Woods On Fire”

Comb your hair and paint and powder
You act proud and I’ll act prouder
You sing loud and I’ll sing louder
Tonight we’re settin’ the woods on fire

You’re my gal and I’m your feller
Dress up in your frock of yeller
I’ll look swell but you’ll look sweller
Settin’ the woods on fire

We’ll take in all the honky tonks
Tonight we’re havin’ fun
We’ll show the folks a brand new dance
That never has been done

I don’t care who thinks we’re silly
You’ll be daffy and I’ll be dilly
We’ll order up two bowls of chili
Settin’ the woods on fire

I’ll gas up my hot rod stoker
We’ll get hotter than a poker
You’ll be broke but I’ll be broker
Tonight we’re settin’ the woods on fire

We’ll sit close to one another
Up one street and down the other
We’ll have a time oh brother
Settin’ the woods on fire

We’ll put aside a little time
To fix a flat or two
My tires and tubes are doin’ fine
But the air is showin’ through

You clap hands and I’ll start bowin’
We’ll do all the laws allowin’
Tomorrow I’ll be right back plowin’
Settin’ the woods on fire

c- 1952 Fred Rose, Ed Nelson Sr.

Happy Friday!!

Okay, gang. I really don’t have anything for today, outside of Charlie’s daily update.

CHARLIE WARD DAILY NEWS WITH PAUL BROOKER & DREW DEMI – FRIDAY 5TH APRIL 2024 (14 mins):

Although it does seem like Putin might declare war on Israel, as Phil told us many months ago. We’ll see!

From Shadow of Ezra. (Putin & Netanyahu. For some reason, I can’t copy photos of Shadow of Ezra without deleting my entire blog post…)

Other than that…

Einstürzende Neubauten has a new album streaming on most platforms today: Rampen (APM: Alien Pop Music). I’m listening to it on Spotify.

(If you speak German, a review of the new album is here.) And this is the album’s cover — a bit on the “yellow” side:

That’s really it, gang. I have an unbelievable TON of notes to look over that arrived from Peitor during the night, and then I gotta scoot to the train station.

Enjoy your Friday, wherever you are in the world!!

Thanks for visiting! I love you guys. See ya!!

More from Mudcrutch. “Oh, Maria”, 2008. Wow, I’d forgotten how much I loved this album, gang!! Enjoy.

“Oh Maria”

Hey Maria, with your kind eyes
Laugh through the day time
Night comes, she cries
I am just a rider on this rough road
Driving some smoke up from old Mexico

Oh Maria, whiskey and rye
Walking up the stairs with a man twice her size
If I had money, I’d buy her a rose
Dress her in gold from her head to her toes

Yeah Maria, sparkles like sunlight on a lake
Every time she passes by, it’s all that I can take
Maria, oh oh oh
Maria, oh oh oh

Oh Maria, stays out of the sun
Waits for the rain to fall down on her tongue
Hey Maria, give me a smile
Let me come over and stay for awhile

Yeah Maria, sparkles like sunshine on a lake
Every time she passes by, it’s all that I can take
Maria, oh oh oh
Maria, oh oh oh

Maria, oh oh oh
Maria, oh oh oh

Yeah Maria, send me a smile
Let me come over and stay for awhile

We Might Have Some Sun Today!

We’ll see. We might not. The weather reports and the actual weather lately couldn’t be more mismatched if they tried.

However.

I’m getting a new roof soon and that overrides everything I now feel about the “weather”.

Those fantastic Amish guys! Coming soon to roof near you,!

Okay. So. News.

I’m not commenting on any of it, because even the worst of it (Taiwan, for instance) is a psyop of sorts, in my opinion. (More DUMBS being taken out, although we were told the DUMBS were all gone last year…)

Anyway. Here’s Charlie.

CHARLIE WARD DAILY NEWS WITH PAUL BROOKER & DREW DEMI – THURSDAY 4TH APRIL 2024 (14 mins):

************

A really good one — even though it basically sums up all the psyops, that Nov. 5th thing is going to be amazing:

Also from Nick Cave this morning — a new Red Hand File.

I thought it was kind of cool that, on the opening day of his art exhibit celebrating the life of the Devil in ceramics, he also sends out a Red Hand File all about Jesus Christ (well, in how it relates to the Wild God in his new song):

“These poignant scenes of a sad and wounded Jesus show his deeply human need for the love of his friends. Time and again he asks his disciples to believe in him, for what is a friend if not someone who believes in you….”

You can read it in full here.

From James Tabor —

And from Jeff Benner (link takes you to video – 11 mins.)–

“An investigation of the Hebrew words found in Genesis 1:27 and Exodus 20:7 to uncover the meaning behind the image of God and what it means to take his name in vain….

The Hebrew word אלהים (elohiym) is the plural form of אלוה (elo’ah) literally meaning “strength” and “power” and is usually translated as God or god….”

Also, if you’re a creative in the US and a member of the Copyright Alliance (it’s free to join), this should be a good seminar. April 23rd, online, 2-3:30 PM Eastern time:

Sustaining and Empowering the Creative Community Through Copyright

….we will discuss how creators can meet their goals today while helping to ensure that tomorrow’s creative community is sustained through job growth, a strong creative economy, and continued growth of the arts, all of which are perpetuated through copyright protections. The event will be free and open to the public.”

Last night’s listening music. I love this song and I had forgotten about it!! It brought back such great memories of someone I totally, 100%, thoroughly loved, who died too soon.

From Mudcrutch’s first album (Tom Petty’s other band), “The Wrong Thing To Do”, 2008. Enjoy, gang!

“The Wrong Thing To Do”

Well, my daddy took me campin’
Out under the stars
Left me by the fire
While he hit the bars
And I broke my finger
On a trailer hitch
Mamma called daddy
That son of a bitch, all right

Well a hundred miles to go
You draggin’ your ass
I’m in a Japanese car
That ain’t gonna last
And you forever drivin’
On the wrong side of the road
Wearing dungarees
That your mother stole

Well my mamma loved me
But my daddy don’t
I’m tryin’ to work it all out
But I probably won’t
I got a woman waiting
At the top of the stairs
It’s the wrong thing to do
But I don’t care

Well she was blond and tall
She was 23
Born into the world
To get the best of me
And she never paid back
Half what she stole
She wanted my money
So I gave her my soul

Well I was flying half mast
On the 4th of July
In a bar in Lake City
With a western tie
And I was thinkin’ hard
About changin’ my name
And headed for Miami
When the daylight came

A Wonder-filled Wednesday!

Wow.

So after having a tornado hanging around for an hour in the Hinterlands last night, and buckets of rain falling nonstop through my kitchen and bathroom ceilings…

It was really, really FANTASTIC to see the many guys stopping by today to look at my roof and ceiling issues, in order to put in their bids to give me my new roof!

Seriously, gang. What a relief. I knew they were coming sometime soon, but last night was really intense. Wondering if my ceiling fan/light fixture in the kitchen was going to come crashing down along with all the water.

It didn’t. And now I know for sure that the new roof is coming…. Thank God.

Okay.

Here is Charlie’s daily update:

Also — two days ago, I got my first order of pearl powder (from Cultivate Elevate, Matt Roeske’s site) and I was amazed at how well it is already working. I bought it primarily to help with my eyesight and it is already making a noticeable difference.

***************

And this amazingly bizarre thing happened —

For some reason, Johnny Depp’s new film “Jeanne Du Barry” is playing for 5 nights in May, in several theaters in Ohio, and ALL of the theaters are sort of within driving distance from here . The only reason I can come up with for why this incredible film is playing in a theater even remotely near me (truly, not an easy feat, since I live in the middle of NOWHERE), is because the Universe is trying to help me learn French!!

Anyway. I’m so excited! Not only do I get to see this film in an actual movie theater and not streaming on my phone someday, but my beloved friend Kara is also coming with me!!! Yay!!

*********

Tomorrow, Nick Cave’s celebration, in ceramics, of the life of the Devil opens in the Xavier Hufkens Gallery on 6 rue St Georges in Brussels.

I know it will be a splendid success, of course!!

I, personally, though, am eager to see his next ceramic celebration, in hopes that it will be inspired by something/anything else…

*************

And I uploaded two more demos to my Marilyn’s Room Video channel on YouTube, and that will be it. (That makes a total of 27 songs.) The rest of my songs either don’t have demos at all, or don’t have demos that I like at all.

Okay. So that is it for today.

I kind of have a little break here today. Sandra had to unexpectedly go get some x-rays, and Peitor is enroute to Las Vegas to work with Charo for a few days.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do today but it will involve a good deal of sitting and staring, I’m sure.

Enjoy your Wednesday, wherever you are in the world!

This song, “Same Old Story,” I wrote in 1981, and it was one of my most popular songs. It was also the first song of mine that got covered by other singers in the West Village back then, which was a real thrill for me.

This demo is me singing and playing guitar, and Stephen Blades on everything else. Enjoy!

It’s looking like a good morning around here, gang.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers sing the Hank Williams’ classic, “Lost Highway.” Audio only, but really fantastic. Enjoy!

“Lost Highway”

I’m a rollin’ stone all alone and lost
For a life of sin I’ve paid the cost
When I pass by all the people say
Just another guy on the lost highway

Just a deck of cards and a jug of wine
And a woman’s lies makes a life like mine
On the day we met, I went astray
I started rollin’ down that lost highway

I was just a lad, nearly twenty two
Neither good nor bad, just a kid like you
And now I’m lost, too late to pray
Lord I paid a cost on the lost highway

Now boys don’t start to ramblin’ round
On this road of sin are you sorrow bound
Take my advice or you’ll curse the day
You started rollin’ down that lost highway
